VW Kombi Van Seeing Resurgence in Popularity

The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.

Classic Car Overview

1979 PininFarina Spyder 2000

96,900 miles
Great shape for a 43 year old car. Runs great. No significant body damage. Very nice lines and condition.

Fun toy for the weekends or drive it every day if you like. I have only owned it for a few months but I am friends with the previous owner and know that he took good care of the car. The Fiat starts right up and purrs down the freeway. Only about 2000 miles put on the odometer over the past 4 years. The car has been used mostly for short weekend fun trips. (I'm going to get one more in this weekend).

I have receipts for the following work done in the last 2000 miles:

New distributor, plugs and wires.
New water pump and timing belt.
New turn signal switch and speedometer cable.
New rear main seal. New steering box. New clutch, cable and flywheel resurface.
Rebuilt carb.
Rebuilt gear box.
New master cylinder

What I think it currently needs:
Front brake calipers/brakes. They work but my mechanic recommends a rebuild.
E brake repair/ adjustment
Horn (honks randomly and is currently disabled.
Heater control valve. - It has been bypassed.
Driver seat repair. The internal frame needs to be repaired or replaced.
The radio is not original but makes noise.

Smog stuff... I recently passed smog but it was expensive. If you buy and register the car by 9/1/22 you will have 2 years to work out any issues. This would be a good car for an out of CA buyer if you don't want the smog hassles. This car would love a bigger carb and a non CA compliant header.

I bought this car on impulse from a friend but it is not a keeper for me. I need a toy with a little more HP. Great fun car for the right person. Cheap, cool looking, fun, and collectable. Priced to sell quick.
