Ferrari shifted 308 body production from fiberglass to steel in mid 1977, and the GTB model features a fixed roof. The 308GTB was shorter, narrower, lower, and lighter than the contemporary 308 GT4. It also utilizes the same 92.1″wheelbase as the 246 Dino. The suspension system is comprised of unequal A-arms, and vented disc brakes are equipped all around. 14″5-spoke alloy wheels came standard.
The front seats are trimmed in brown leather to match the carpet and door panels. A fire extinguisher has been added behind the driver’s seat, and the seller recently had the A/C system was converted to R134 and charged. The stereo is a modern unit but the original unit is available.
The speedometer and tachometer are mounted in the main surround, along with gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, and engine water temperature. Additional instrumentation provided by the factory when new included an engine oil temperature gauge and clock on the lower left corner of the dash. 55,755k miles are shown on the instrument cluster.
The mid-mounted 2.9-liter quad-cam V8 is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Induction is through four twin-choke Weber DCNF carburetors. US-market cars received a wet sump lubrication system, and the smog equipment has been removed, though it could be included with the sale.
Original CA car, recently moved to DC in September 2018.
This is an honest car - everything works – an excellent driver that always draws smiles. It drives as a Ferrari should – quick off the line, never overheats, solid and stable at speed. A rare opportunity to own a 2-owner Ferrari 308 GTB in one of the most desirable years, a rare color combination and maintained the right way.
