The 1967 Corvette is considered the most-loved Corvette ever produced. The combination of classic C2 styling, along with an incredible array of powertrain and comfort options, makes it one of the most desirable Corvettes ever. Not bad for a car that was never supposed to be made!
The ZR-1's production run from 1990-95 was one of the most exciting times for Corvette enthusiasts in recent memory. In the mid-1980s, rumors of a "King of the Hill" Corvette began to leak out of Detroit and into America's speed shops and dealerships.
Classic Car Overview
The C3 Corvette is the longest running, perhaps most frequently redesigned iterations of an American icon. From 1968 to 1982, the Corvette received a variety of subtle facelifts and styling changes that eventually made the first and final years entirely different cars. Because of this, it is very easy to have a specific C3 Corvette year preference. Many Corvette enthusiasts are polarized one way or the other on certain models; while some seek out chrome bumper cars, others prefer the later plastic bumper cars. The same goes for this beautiful red 1979 Chevrolet Corvette L82 you see here; while some prefer earlier models, many seek out the neat rear window that became a common sight on Corvettes of the late 1970s. This 1979 Corvette is a factory red on red car that looks just ravishing in the combination. The exterior is eye-catching, as any Corvette should be, and the red is a wonderful change from the silver, gray, and other less bright colors often seen on Corvettes of this vintage. The red and factory chrome wheels really complement each other well, and this Corvette is bound to be a head-turner! The paint is in excellent overall condition, and this car could easily be enjoyed as-is. As nice as the paint it, it does have some minor age showing here and there indicating that this is either the original paint or an older repaint. As a whole, the exterior is clean and straight and could be considered nice driver-quality. The interior is also red-and the same red as the exterior. While this may sound a little odd at first, it makes for a dynamite combination on this C3 Vette. The carpet, seats, and dash are all red! It really pops and is sure to draw a crowd anywhere you take it. When was the last time you saw one configured like this? Additionally, two sets of T-tops are included with the sale as well as bags to store the set not in use in. One set is painted body color, and while they suit the car well the realy crown jewel is the glass set which have been tinted with reflective tint to give the car an extra little touch of flash! In either configuration, to call this car a looker would be an understatement. The original carpet is a little faded, so also included with the sale is a brand new carpet from Auto Custom Carpets as well as floor mats. Under the hood is a tried and true Chevrolet 350 V8 engine. While it retains much of its original appearance just like the rest of the car, a few tasteful changes have been added over the years. In addition to a chrome air cleaner and brushed finish valve covers, a discerning previous owner has upgraded the factory HEI ignition system with a set of Scott plug wires. The engine bay is clean and complete, and the engine purrs just like it should. This Corvette is fully functional and truly a turn-key driver. If youre looking for a nice quality C3 Vette that will draw a crowd without breaking the bank, youll want to consider this one. It needs nothing but a new driver, but could be easily taken to the next level with some upgrades and cosmetic repairs. This is a fun little head-turner with funky late-70s style!
