1969 ZL1 CAMARO

The story of the ZL1 Camaro, fitted with that rarest of the rare, all-aluminum 427 big-block V-8, is one that has often been told: How only 69 were made, how they exploited the GM option-ordering system, and how they've become the Camaro guy's ultimate Camaro.

Classic Car Overview

I bought this Camaro used around 1981 than I sold it to a friend around 1984  I cosigned for the loan which came back to haunt me. I bought the car back in 1986 and started building it into a Prostreet car.  From the pics you can see it's a back half car with ladder bar coil over suspension. Its a Dana 60 rear with a Detroit locker with 4.56 gears. The motor is a 548 cubic inch Merlin 3 block with Merlin heads. Forged crank rods and pistons running pump gas. Full hydraulic roller valve train. MSD distributor and box. Hooker large tube headers and flowmaster mufflers. It has an aluminum intake and quick fuel carburetor. The trans is a Tremic 5 speed with overdrive. Hays clutch, flywheel and bell housing. The body is all original steel and there are no patch panels on the car other than the front lip of the quarter panel that was cut and reshaped to allow for the 31" tires in 14" rims. I finished this car in the early 90's so the paint although still very shiny is showing it's age. The worst of it can be seen on the rear bumper. I lady bumped me from behind and chipped the paint buy the license plate and I got I bit out of control with the buffing wheel on a spot on the bumper. It's fun to drive and it's loud and fast. The stereo is very loud too.  I'm selling it because I have too many toys(sez the wife)and I need to downsize. Call or text if you have any questions.
