Classic Car Overview

1978 LOTUS ESPRIT S2. This car had a full restoration in 2010 and has been sitting garaged ever since. Driving the car from the motor restoration shop it started to overheat. I had the car returned to the motor shop where it sat for many months... untouched. They had not up-graded the radiator as they had promised. As the new engine had much more power than the stock engine, a bigger radiator is a must! They ended up going out of business without touching the car again. It has sat under a cover in my garage ever since. I am moving out of the country, and my son is no longer interested in the car, so it is time to sell it. Years ago I contacted Lotus to find out what I could about the production of this car... The information they had was VERY limited. It was one of the first S2's to roll off the line. It was within the first 40 they made, but they could not pin it down further. I worked with Dave Bean Engineering and J.A.E. on this project. They were both suprised as some aspects/parts seemed to also be S1. I have most, if not all of the reciepts for this project. (I was going through a divorce and moving out of my home at the time) Here is a list, in no paticular order, of facts about the car....
Euro fibergalss bumpers.
Original old stock euro Dellorto carbs with tall trumpets.
Spax shocks.
Outer-edge of rims is polished.
Water pump out of a turbo for greater water flow.
Seats are new leather and Tartan that was woven for me in Scottland.
Interior is Ultra-Suede replacing the old Alcantara. (The car sat outside for 3 months under a nylon cover and some areas of the Ultra-Suede needs to be touched up/dyed.
23,848 original miles.
I had the transmission gone through while we were working on the engine. I spent $7k to replace ANY/ALL parts that showed any signs of wear.
I had the gas tanks coated with a aviation product to protect then from rusting as well as the aluminium coolant tubes.
New carpets.
Must parts have been anodised, cad plated or chormed.
The car is Gaurds Red & Black.
New Dunlop tires.
New horsepower was estimated at 200-225hp. (The car has not been Dyno'd)
S/S muffler.
Although not shown, I have the original engine cover, spare tire and rim & rear valance.
