1978 Jeep CJ-5

This is a 1978 Jeep CJ5 we have owned almost 4 years, having purchased it in Georgia. This jeep was built 10 January 1978 in Toledo, Ohio. The engine is a 304 and sports an Edelbrock Performer Intake with a Holley 'Street Warrior' 600cfm carb. The engine also has headers with Hooker mufflers purchased from Summit Racing. Transmission is a Borg-Warner T-150, 3-speed manual. Rear axle is an AMC-20 with 3:55 ratio and just had new USA Alloy axles, bearings and seals installed February 2024. Transfer case is a Dana 20. Tires are 33X12.50-15. Original color was Autumn Red but has been repainted Firecracker Red by a previous owner. Original interior was black with low back buckets, but has been upgraded to high backs. The dash, seats, bikini top and roll bar padding are all new from BestTop. The engine got an Edelbrock dress-up kit 3 years ago with new hoses and thermostat. The power steering pump was replaced 2 years ago. The battery is an Ultima yellow top that is 2 months old. A new alternator was installed July 2024 as well as a new starter. We have added a new rear bumper, locking center console, stainless everywhere, replaced the mirrors, wiper arms, dash knobs, steering wheel, door sill trim, barefoot gas pedal and dimmer switch, chrome tow hooks, chrome rear diff cover, and Skyjacker steering stabilizer. There is also a brand new, never installed, complete black top with doors and frame, valued at $1,300. The previous owner also gave us replacement steel floor pans, new in their boxes, valued at $50 each. The previous owner installed a Painless wiring harness and wired up the lights, turn signals and dash lights. The oil pressure gauge works. The gas gauge, radio and horn are not wired up. The odometer only shows 2,709 miles and the needle on the speedometer bounces and won't indicate over 55mph, but the jeep has easily gone 65mph on the freeway. This jeep is definitely a head turner at all cruise-ins and car shows and recently won best Off-Road vehicle at a local central Texas show. The vehicle inspection sticker is a reproduction. Everything you see goes with the jeep except for the lights added to the front bumper. Clean Texas title in hand.
