This is a great example of the 1978 F150 Ranger that was born the same year as the Built Ford Tough campaign and it never ceases to take you back in time. With very few modifications, this truck is reliable and ready for action. The stout 400-cubic-inch engine has excellent compression and passed a leakdown test with flying colors. It has very few changes from OEM engine except to be brought back to the Ford standard with OEM and NOS parts, but with limited aftermarket parts. In short, its made to run better, and drive safer, but to look original. The 47,281 miles on the odometer may be actual, but not 100% sure; the trucks condition would not rule out that possibility.

Valor Restorations serviced the truck from stem to stern, and upgraded the stock fuel delivery system with a FiTech Fuel Injection System in a two barrel setup which enabled the stock intake manifold, and thus keepingthe appearance of a carbureted system. While throttle body fuel injection adds the conveniences of a modern truck in terms of reliability, functionality, performance and exceptional gas mileage for its displacement, it doesnt take away much in terms of keeping the truck with the look and feel of vintage 1978. A modern fuel injection pump, fuel tank (16 gallon Pro-Street race cell) and 140 volt, one-wire alternator were required, but, again, unnoticeable in terms of originality. For modern cooling in our hot Texas summers, we integrated electric cooling fans with accurately set controllers to keep her running cool. The distributor system was restored and kept stock with a proper curve, and timing set for total time, and idle time. All gaskets, hoses and seals were serviced on the engine as well.
The C6 automatic transmission was serviced and sealed, kickdown cables adjusted and neutral safety switch serviced. The rear end and transfer case were serviced and sealed. The braking system was gone through and a new, 1 bore, brake master and 7 booster matched to the front disc brakes, and was properly proportioned with the rear drums making it stop very adequately. 31 oversized tires are in very good condition and look era-correct with the vintage five spoke chrome rims.
Unlike F150s of its era, this truck is not rusted out and in need of costly fabrication. From the best of our knowledge, the truck has had one repaint in a base-clear finish. Panels are straight and all appear original in the dark red over cloud white two-tone appearance package. Frame is in great condition with no surprises. Doors close nicely and align well. The red factory interior with bench seat is either all original or infused with factory style replacement parts. The Vintage Air AC blows cold and the heater and all gauges work as they should, all the way down the whimsical touch of the aftermarket AMFM stereo/radio which works well and fits the dash as the factory radio would have back in the day. The bed cover is in excellent shape and adds to the character of the truck, as do the custom stepside rails, and rear bumper. Glass all the way around is in excellent condition.
There is nothing to do with this truck to make it a daily driver or to take on a nice long drive. Its not a show queen, but is a truck that you would not hesitate to place in a local car show or take on a tour. Its a standout example of a truck that you could own for about half of what it would cost to restore a truck that needed such...it screams, Im a lot cheaper to buy than build.
