Classic Car Overview

1978 Chevrolet Corvette C3
One-Family-Owned California Car

This 1978 Corvette has spent its entire life in California, purchased new in Santa Rosa by its original owner and later passed down to his daughter in 2012. It currently shows 121,964 original miles and comes with a clear California title, the original owners manual, and a few service records from her ownership. A well-loved, well-kept car, it presents as a genuine survivor thats been maintained with care rather than restored beyond recognition.

Under the hood, the 350ci Turbo-Fire V8 delivers that familiar small-block rumble with smooth power and clean running manners. It starts easily, idles evenly, and feels strong through the revs. The Turbo 400 automatic transmission shifts properly and with the right firmness, keeping things true to its late-70s character. Suspension and brakes feel sorted and road-ready. While the tires show good tread depth, theyre aged and should be replaced before any serious driving. Mechanically, the car retains much of its originality, including the rerouted exhaustan early modification the original owner made after his wifes tennis shoes met their match against the factory side pipes.

The black exterior was repainted years ago at a consumer level to address chips and wear, still showing well today with a uniform finish. Headlamps raise and lower properly, and all exterior lighting is functional. The trim, glass, and chrome bits present well, with honest signs of age that suit an unrestored California car. The undercarriage is tidy and stock in appearance, with the exception of the side-pipe deletion early in its life.

Inside, the black leather cockpit remains nicely preserved, showing expected wear and tear for a 47-year-old car. The original seats show minor wear on the drivers side but remain comfortable and supportive. The dash and gauges are clean, with all instruments working as they should, except for the clock. The factory 8-track player still operates, and the carpeting retains its factory heel pad under the mat. The retractable cargo cover functions properly, and the original T-top bagswith their fold marks still visiblelook nearly new. Even the original rear strap that secures them in place is still present. The interior mirror is a bit cloudy, but overall, it leaves the impression of a well-cared-for, genuine survivor.
