1978 Chevrolet Corvette

Introduced for 1953, the Chevrolet Corvette soon became an iconic sports car. As the years went on, special "Anniversary" editions celebrated Americas sports car.



Here we have one of those special Corvettes -- a 1978 Silver Anniversary Edition with less than 20 original miles on it. Not 20,000, just 20. Essentially in the wrapper, this rare C3 features the handsome two-tone Silver/Gray paint scheme that marks a real 25th Anniversary Edition. The optional and handsome alloy wheels wearing correct Goodyear GT Radial tires add the perfect punctuation mark to this Corvette.



Inside, the optional black leather seats look new and indeed still have the factory-issued protective plastic on the seat bottoms, while the leather-wrapped steering wheel likewise still has its plastic cover. Even the carpet still sports much of the protective cardboard that the car has had since 1978. Other option highlights include A/C, P/W, P/L, Tilt/Telescopic steering wheel and an AM/FM/8-Track Stereo radio with power antenna.



Under the long hood is the "L48" 350 V8 that sends the power through the automatic transmission to the 3.55-geared Positraction rear end. Giving the Corvette even more athleticism on a curvy road is the optional Gymkhana suspension. As youd expect of a carefully preserved "new" 1978 Corvette, this car starts, drives and handles like youre back in the day when "Grease" was pulling them into theatres.



Extensive documentation includes the build sheet, window sticker (still on the side glass), owners manual and even the original dealerships additional price sticker showing a $2,500 mark-up for the 25th Anniversary Edition. As you can imagine, this special Corvette is a true time capsule that must be seen and driven to appreciate.
