VW Kombi Van Seeing Resurgence in Popularity

The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. Classic Car Overview

Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1977 Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera, a nicely restored example out of single-family ownership since the early 1980s. Recent cosmetic work included a glass-out repaint to a very nice standard in 2021, and also an interior refresh with new upholstery at the same time. Porsche PPS confirms correct, original colors of Guards Red over white leather interior - its an unusual, but quite attractive, combination we have rarely seen. Very clean underneath with no sign of accident damage and no known rust. 16-inch Fuchs wheels (wearing Michelins) are in excellent shape, along with all trim, lenses, glass, and both front and rear spoilers. The interior was restored four years ago in correct materials with white leather seating surfaces, black carpets, and two-tone black and white door panels. The black-and-white checked coco mats are a tasteful addition that help tie everything together. Very nice crack-free dash and steering wheel. A/C has been converted to R134 and is blowing cold. The knob in the center console just forward of the shifter is a boost control from a 935. The 3.0 liter turbocharged flat six engine was rebuilt to 3.3 specs in the late 1990s; the engine number is correct for a 1977 US-market 930, and we believe it is the original case. Seven years ago (and within the last 10,000 miles) this car saw a transmission rebuild, new clutch, engine reseal, fuel injection system overhaul, new oil lines and upgraded oil cooler, plus an A/C system overhaul. Rebuilt K27 turbo with adjustable boost controller. While weve had several 930s come through the shop, this is the first early, non-intercooled 930 weve driven and we were suitably impressed. The chassis is nearly 300 pounds lighter than the 1986-89 iteration of the US-market 930; this example feels appreciably lighter and more harmonious than any other I have driven. With the lighter chassis plus a performance engine build, it feels every bit as fast as the later intercooled cars. Jack, spare, original books and many service records are included with the sale. On the market for the first time in more than 40 years. For more information about this 1977 Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera for sale at Motorcar Studio in Savannah, please call 912-235-0435.
