Classic Car Overview
1977 Pontiac Trans Am $42,000
This 1977 Trans Am T/A is a resto-modified finished project aimed to be a drivers car. The intent of this build was to create a car which is capable of performing similar to a modern sports car while preserving the essence of an American muscle car. Attention was made towards the engine/drive-train/handling and reliability. The car as it sits, turns on immediately, has a modern ice cold a/c system and is registered as a California Historic Vehicle (clean title). Hood decals/stickers are original T/A 6.6 style. 18x9 square Year One billet wheels pairs with BF Goodrich tires. No sagging of the doors, zero rust, no weather leaks. Original vinyl seats are in excellent condition aside from 1 small 1/2 inch superficial tear along the inner fold of the drivers seat. New sylvania silverstar headlamps
Interior: Near perfect OEM presentation. The steering wheel is re-wrapped in Italian leather with thicker padding. Headliner is in perfect shape. Rear seats have barely been sat on based on appearance. Manual windows. 8-track radio does not work.
Engine: GM crate 383zz stroker with a Holley double pumper carburetor, HD ignition system, shorty headers for optimal ground clearance. A custom Griffin all aluminum radiator is fitted with custom shroud and black magic fan system. Custom 2.5inch exhaust system with a single magnaflow muffler union andOEM style exhaust tips. Valvoline VR1 racing oil has only been used for routine 2k mile oil changes.
Transmission / Rear end: Tremec TKO 500 5-speed manual, Posi built rear-end
Brakes: BAER big brake kit with Hawk HP+ pads. Rebuilt rear OEM drums
Suspension: Hotchkis suspension kit including front/rear springs, swaybars, endlinks. Bilstein sport shocks. Hotchkis subframe connectors.
Major receipts available along with original paperwork from 1977. Major work was done by a local, highly reputable speed shop owned and run by a single specialized mechanic familiar to F-body classics. Title is in hand. The vehicles handles great for a car of its era. Turn is quite impressive and the posi rear end really works well in putting power down. The cars ride height was carefully set after multiple trial-errors to find the balance of suspension clearance, performance and aesthetics. Its understood that such resto-modded vehicles rarely get the invested amount back upon selling the car. Our loss is your gain!
