Offered for sale is my 1977 Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL, the long-wheelbase W116 S-Class, finished in its original blue paint over a beige/tan interior.

My father purchased the car new from Calstar Mercedes-Benz in Glendale, California in 1977 and used it primarily as a second or third automobile. It remained with him until the title was formally transferred to me in May 2026. The car has remained in Southern California and in the same family since new.

The car has also been garaged for much of its life, historically in a non-climate-controlled residential garage at my father's home and more recently in my garage.

The odometer currently shows approximately 31,572 miles. I represent the mileage as actual based on the car's continuous family ownership since my father's purchase of the car new in 1977.

The car retains its original blue paint and substantial original interior. The rear seats were replaced historically after the original seat padding deteriorated with age. The upper-left and upper-right rear seat-backs each have a narrow tear/cut of approximately one inch with some discoloration. The car retains matching numbers and complete factory equipment. The Becker radio and power sunroof are operational.

The 4.5-liter V8 starts and runs well based on my current use, and the automatic transmission shifts normally. The car drives, tracks and brakes normally based on my current experience. I have not recently had the remaining brake service life professionally evaluated. All four tires were replaced within approximately the last 18 to 24 months.

The vehicle has a clean California title in my name, California registration fees have been paid through June 2027, and it recently passed a California smog check.

This 1977 Mercedes-Benz uses its original pre-1981 Mercedes-Benz chassis/VIN format, which predates the standardized 17-character VIN system. The vehicle identification plate is shown in the photographs.

The car's most recent historical servicing has been performed by EG Motorworks in Inglewood, California. An aging climate-control servo that had previously been causing leaks was replaced. The heating function is operational and produces warm air. The air conditioning does not currently produce cold air and requires further diagnosis or repair. Based on my most recent service consultation, the current A/C issue was not believed to originate with the recently replaced servo, the compressor or the condenser. I am selling the car with the remaining air-conditioning issue disclosed and am not representing the automatic climate-control system as fully operational.

The car retains its original blue paint, which shows expected age-related wear, including some chips and imperfections consistent with its age and largely garaged history.

There is localized cosmetic deformation in the underside/body area immediately ahead of the left-front wheel well, reportedly resulting from a tire blowout many years ago. The condition is cosmetic rather than structural, and prospective buyers are welcome to inspect the area closely or include it in a pre-purchase inspection.
