The history of this Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9 begins when the long-term owner saw an ad for it in the Wall Street Journal. He would purchase this 450 SEL 6.9 on April 7th, 1978, from Cyrus Mayer of Mayer Manufacturing Corp in Chicago. Mr. Mayer had acquired this example new from Mercedes-Benz AutoHafen Inc., on 209th Street in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Remaining in the same family for over 40 years, along with his other Mercedes-Benz automobiles, the current owner would welcome this example into his own Mercedes collection as part of a package deal in 2020.
Documented by its original data card, which is still affixed in the owners manual, the current owner would entrust Huber Restorations of Tulsa, Oklahoma, for a bare metal respray in its factory original colors of Astral Silver Metallic. During this time, the leather seats were also reupholstered with Mercedes-Benz covers in its original color of 202 Blue. After which, this 450 SEL 6.9 was brought to Mercedes specialist Autohaus of Tulsa for a mechanical freshening. Today, this example shows just 78,861 miles on the odometer, which the owner believes to be actual.
