Classic Car Overview
Offered for sale is this 1977 Lotus Esprit S1 model. If you
are looking for a top quality early series Esprit in gorgeous condition with a
little extra, then read on. Purchased new by the seller in 77 (build date 5/77), this is a true 1
– owner example with 47,520 original miles. Owned and cared for by a veteran
SCCA Formula Atlantic driver, it has been painstakingly maintained through-out
its life and it shows.
Great attention has been paid to the performance
of this car. The engine (type 907) is freshly rebuilt and has been fully
balanced and blueprinted featuring euro-spec type 104 camshafts that have been
custom ground to Cosworth DFV F1 cam profiles, forged pistons, machined
cylinder head for higher compression, tuned Weber DCOE 45mm side draft carbs, an
increased redline to 7,800rpm, and much more. The acceleration is formidable - this Esprit
is easily twice as powerful as a stock US-spec 907 equipped car and has
achieved an indicated 160mph in 5th gear. A spec sheet is available upon request.
The body and paint are original and in excellent
condition. This car has been kept in a climate controlled garage it’s entire
life. The only significant exterior modifications are front and rear
euro-bumpers. The interior has been reupholstered and is in excellent
condition. Most recently the seats, matching door inserts, and arm rest where
reupholstered in crème colored leather. There is too much to list here, but of
note: air conditioning has been added, AP Racing 4 piston brake calipers, and a
premium 4-speaker sound system featuring blue tooth connectivity for hands free
calls. There are many easily missed and tastefully upgraded parts and details
through-out this car that are hard to put a price on. The steering wheel, for
instance, is a MOMO model from the late 70’s with Mario Andretti’s signature
engraved in the aluminum spoke. Every nut and bolt has been inspected and/or
replaced. A complete book of maintenance history including receipts comes with
the car. All belts, fluids, hoses, and filters are new, upgraded, or recently
changed within the past 3 years. A build sheet is available upon request.
Lotus is renowned for making a true drivers car,
no matter which model you choose. This Esprit has been updated and improved
upon over the years - in many cases as if the factory had done it themselves.
This car turns heads and performs as its striking Giugiaro-penned shape suggests.
