IMPORTANT NOTES:  If  you see this ad, the car IS available! Due to the high prevalence of texting scams, NO texts will be  answered…if you are interested in this car please call…let’s talk!

ORAL HISTORY:  Purchased from an elderly couple in the early 2000s who are believed  to have purchased the car new.  Appears to have original paint, top, and interior. The engine has been upgraded to a rebuilt 400 cid V8 and it idles/runs  very smooth!  It is very difficult to  find these increasingly popular Thunderbirds as close to original appearance as  this one is!

Rebuilt  400-cid V8 is impressively smooth

LOCATION:  Winder, GA (approximately 50 miles  northeast from Atlanta, GA)

GENERAL HISTORY:  The 1977 Ford Thunderbird was the hottest selling model  year in the brand’s historyIn  fact, sales reached almost 1 Million units in a three year run.  The secret to its success was the shortening  of the car by 8 inches, accompanied by a 900lb reduction in weight.  Most important, was the dramatic price  reduction made possible by the Thunderbird’s abandonment of its shared platform  with the Lincoln Mark IV.  Instead – for  the first time – the 1977 Thunderbird shared its platform and basic engineering  with the intermediate Ford Elite. In the three decades  that followed, the Thunderbird would never again match the sales success of the  1977-1979 seventh generation.

TEST DRIVE OPERATIONAL REPORT:  This  T’Bird is an exceptionally smooth driving car that is a pleasure to drive.  The power brakes, steering, windows and  driver’s seat (passenger seat is manual) all functioned well.  Headlamps (high and low beam), directionals,  parking lamps, side lamps, and brake lamps worked.  The full instrumentation is impressive…and  all gauges worked. The lighter, horn, washer motor (no fluid), radio, and the  8-Track all functioned.

Impressively, most everything functions on  the car, but we found a few items not working: the AC will need servicing/conversion to R134 to be operational, the emergency  brake sticks – so it was not tested, and the back-up lamps did not light.

IMPERFECTIONS:  Very few 1977 cars exist today…and very few of those that do look as good as this  Thunderbird.  But please understand that  this is not a restored car…it is a maintained car.  Therefore, you will see age/use patina  throughout the car.  Many collectors prize highly original cars such as this, and that is the target audience for a  new owner for this steadily appreciating classic. Please be sure to examine ALL  the images to see a sampling of the type of imperfections that the new owner  should expect.

INVESTMENT POTENTIAL…as we age, many of us get nostalgic about  the “cars of our youth”.  There is always  that favorite car that “got away”, or was out of reach decades ago…but that now  cruises in the country roads of your mind. Then there are those cars that are not only our personal favorites, but  that are also the favorite of millions of classic car admirers.  With many 1960s classics reaching higher than  ever prices, the best cars of the 1970s are getting more attention every  year.  The 1977 Thunderbird was one of  the most successful and desired cars of the 1970s, and is a very good bet for  continued appreciation.

ODOMETER NOTE: The indicated 82,926 mileage is believed to be correct, but there are NO  guarantees or warranties expressed or implied regarding original mileage due to  the design limitations of odometers of this era.  Please note however, (as previously mentioned  in the description) that the rebuilt 400-cid engine replacement only has  approximately 1100 miles on it since installation.

PAYMENT DETAILS: CASH or Bank to Bank wire transfer ONLY…NO  exceptions.  Transaction can be done at  local bank or police station.

ABOUT ME:  After retiring from 30  years of sales and marketing in a Global 100 company, I  began buying and selling classic cars as a  collector and for friends and clients. This classic belongs to a good friend  and fellow classic car enthusiast.

IMPORTANT FINAL REMARKS & CONDITIONS  OF SALE...the Buyer will  receive a Bill of Sale and the clear/signed off Georgia Registration slip.

The state of Georgia does not require  titles for vehicles built before 1986. Therefore, this 1977 Ford Thunderbird was not issued a title.  The Registration document is the legal  document of ownership. Every state observes the DMV rules of all other states,  therefore this vehicle may be insured, licensed, registered and driven in any  state.  Whether it is titled depends upon the DMV title rules of your state.

This Vehicle is sold strictly on a final  and “as-is” basis without any warranties expressed or implied. Even the very  best restored classics will require additional maintenance and service - often  without warning.  Therefore, please expect to continue - as the new owner  and caretaker of this classic - to perform additional maintenance and  repairs.  We hope that you are able to enjoy the T’Bird without the need  for an immediate repair - but understand that this indeed could be found  necessary.  As seasoned collectors know, every time you start (or attempt  to start) a collectible vehicle is a new experience...it could be a wonderful  ride, or a new repair to undertake.  That is the nature of the hobby, and  this classic should not be purchased if you are not prepared for this reality. We have presented the car accurately to the best of our ability, but oversights  are possible…so we invite pre-purchase inspection for serious buyers.  All  sales are final.
