Classic Car Overview
This truck gets the job done. Big, bold, and black, this 1977 Ford F-100 Ranger XLT is ready to work, play, or just take you just about anywhere you want to go, thanks to 4-wheel-drive and a strong 400 under the hood. Great looks dont hurt, either. In the 70s, if you needed stuff hauled, no matter how big, this was how you did it. As a result, finding a truck that hasnt been bashed and worked to within an inch of its life is no easy task. Fortunately, this one has led an easier life of leisure, perhaps scouting remote hunting grounds or trekking across fields to get to a private fishing spot. The shiny black paint is a few years old and shows slight wear, but by truck standards, its very nice. Youll dig the extra XLT Ranger stainless trim, as well as the chrome bumpers that make it look well-dressed for any occasion. The bodywork is straight and clean thanks to a lifetime down south, and it appears to be wearing all its original sheetmetal, so its not like this is some wreck that was rebuilt. No, its just a really clean heavy-duty pickup thats ready for new adventures. The bed is finished with a spray-in bedliner so you can still use it as a truck and there are no signs of abuse underneath. Clean is the theme inside, too, where a fresh red seat cover for the factory bench offers comfortable accommodations for three. The new black carpets on the floor works rather well with the exterior paint job and dresses up the Fords heavy-duty interior. The instrument panel offers factory dials and a set of auxiliary gauges neatly installed just underneath, as well as bright XLT woodgrain accents that dress it up a bit. The original steering wheel is showing its age and might be the only notable demerit in the interior, because everything else is pretty darned nice. Youre also going to dig the AM/FM/CD stereo that sounds great as well as fully functional factory A/C. And no pickup truck is complete without a sliding rear window, which provides draft-free ventilation thats great for days when its not quite warm enough for the A/C. This is a big truck, but fortunately, theres a big V8 to move it around. The 400 is probably the original engine, complete with a stock 2-barrel carburetor, and it runs strong. All the original parts are intact: thats the original air cleaner up top, with plain painted valve covers and lots of Ford Blue paint. IT has obviously been detailed recently and it starts, idles, and runs extremely well thanks to proper tuning. The rumble from the custom Flowmaster dual exhaust system sounds more like a vintage muscle car than a big pickup, and well admit that we like it a lot. The C6 3-speed automatic transmission shifts well and the 4-wheel-drive system engages without any drama, so its always ready to rock. The chassis is heavy-duty enough to go just about anywhere, and with manual locking hubs, you dont have to worry about fragile parts getting broken at the least opportune moment. 15-inch aluminum wheels wear brand new big 31x10.50-15 all-terrain tires. This truck is definitely up for whatever youre looking to do, and thanks to the heavy-duty hardware, youll never have to worry about getting stuck. 4x4 Ford trucks are hard to come by, especially in slick black packages.
