While back here, we note twin exhaust pipes on each side and we cant wait to get underneath to see whats up! The 15-inch aluminum slot wheels are in great shape and wear 225/70R15 tires all around. The crossed flag emblem leads your eyes to the slightly cowled hood between rounded fenders, part of the coke bottle profile thats been compared to the feminine form consciously and unconsciously. Rocker panel trim creates some contrast and visual interest, and T-tops cap off a roof that includes flying buttress rear pillars. Overall, the paint and body are in excellent shape, especially at 10 feet. Imperfections include areas of checking paint on the fender and hood, crazing on the door, chipped paint in various places including wheel opening, flex cracks and touched up chips on the nose, random scratches, blemishes, and hazing. Interior Are we going black on black? Yes! The inside starts with black door panels with polished trim pieces and both doors present cleanly. The black leather seats are glossy and show minor patina via typical leather wrinkles. A three spoke steering wheel fronts the two gauge instrument panel and five other gauges, including a clock, are in the center stack, and its all in very nice shape. The center console is clean and houses a ball handled shifter and electric window switches, all over plush black carpet that also neatly covers the rear cargo area. The car has A/C and an AM/FM radio, both of which occupy the center stack. Drivetrain Under the hood is a clean, numbers matching 350ci L82 V8, topped by a 4-barrel carburetor and mated to the numbers matching T10 4-speed manual transmission sending power to the rear axle and 3.70 gears with Positraction. The bay includes some chrome dress up including the brake reservoir cap, alternator, coil cover, and air cleaner housing. Undercarriage Clean underneath with minimal surface rust and only residual fluid in typical places. Our dual exhaust system is catalytic converter and muffler delete and terminates with black tailpipes leading to twin dual chrome tips, slightly upturned with a nod to European sports cars. Power disc brakes are employed on all four wheels and suspension consists of coil springs in front and Corvettes complex system of a frame mounted differential, tubular axle drive shafts, transverse strut rods, torque control arms, and transverse leaf spring in back. Drive-Ability The L82 starts up with a rip roaring exhaust note unburdened by what has been! The car then delivers a spirited ride around the test loop, running well, tracking straight, and providing the handling Vettes are notorious for. We note the clock and A/C are not working but all other functions work as they should.
