Classic Car Overview

Up for sale is my 1977 Cadillac Sedan Deville with 44,000 original miles.
This thing is an absolute stunner and a true survivor.
Finished in saffron metallic with the hard to find slick top option with no landau or vinyl top, she is a gorgeous car with incredibly low original miles.
Body and paint: Saffon metallic paint with slick top. No vinyl top to tear, fray, crack or hold moisture and hide rust. Paint is original and looks amazing with deep color and beautiful shine. Conservatively I would say paint is close to 90%. I buffed out the worst of the oxidization and surface scratches, but there are a few small scratches and scuffs that could probably be removed with some careful buffing, and there are a few spots on the driver side lower door panel and decklid where the paint is starting to peel. Its not bad and could be repaired by somebody who is a better paint and body guy than me. Bumper fillers are nearly perfect. No cracking, no damage. There is minor sun fading on the high edges, that could be removed with some careful buffing. Chrome is excellent. The rear bumper has a scratch on the drivers side where it looks like something was moved in or out of the trunk and the plastic trim below the rear license plate is starting to crack and lose paint (probably from years of gasoline being spilled on it). Front bumper, grill and header panel are excellent. The lower driver side portion of the bumper has a small crease in it where it looks like the car bumped into something going into a parking space. All exterior trim is in excellent shape. ABSOLUTELY RUST FREE. Car has always been owned and driven in eastern Montana. No road salt and we dont get the moisture up here that promotes rust. Undercarriage is perfect, no rust on the body or frame. Glass is excellent. Windshield has a tiny ding on the passenger side, but no cracks or damage. Body is exceptionally straight with all doors closing nice and straight. Paint and chrome are freshly buffed but I didnt want to get too aggressive and she could do with a professional paint restoration.
Drivetrain. If you know these 5th generation DeVilles, you know the 77-79 are the years to get. These are the last of the true big block Cadillac engines equipped with stone cold reliable TH400 transmissions and the ever reliable Quadrajet carburetor. Great driving, reliable, durable and easy to work on and maintain. This car is an absolute mechanical masterpiece. Runs, shifts, and drives amazing. Like all 70s smoggers she can be cranky when cold or when she hasnt been driven in a while, but once warmed up she drives perfect. 425cid Cad V8 motor has plenty of power and the transmission shifts smooth and properly, both up and down. Drives straight down the road, runs nice and cool. Volts from the alternator are good, no weird sounds or smells. Ive replaced a bunch of vacuum lines and some wiring under the hood, and the previous owner claims to have put in a new rear main seal and oil pan gasket. Oil pan gasket looks new. Still has the little rubber locator tabs visible. Car has newer brakes as well as a transmission pan gasket and fresh fluid and filter. All fluids look perfect. New front shocks. Occasionally will leave a few drops of oil on the ground after sitting for a while. Not sure of the source. Has brand new tires and has a custom cat delete pipe installed.

Interior: Interior overall is excellent. Newly installed headliner with original carpet and floor mats both of which are in excellent shape. Perfect seat upholstery with no rips, tears, or damage. Never smoked in. Smells nice. Front passenger side door has some damage to the lower carpet swatch where the carpet is separating from the door panel, and the dash cap has a few small cracks. A few of the interior plastics have small cracks and some rub marks, but overall the interior looks amazing. Arm rests on door panels are perfect. Sun shade fabric is coming loose, but is not torn or separated. All power accessories work, doors, windows and remote mirrors. All interior lights work. Automatic climate control works perfect. AC blows cold, and heat blows hot. Cruise control functions when it wants to. The switch on the dash works, but the button on the steering column is finnicky, sometimes engaging the cruise control on the first try, sometimes not. Its gotten better since Ive been driving it, so maybe it just needs to be used more and it will come around. Factory radio has a short in it and blows the fuse when its turned on. I was planning on dropping a new blue tooth head unit and running a separate power wire and inline fuse directly to the fuse block, but Ill let the new owner customize the stereo to their own tastes as Ive just been using a Bluetooth speaker. Has a new washer pump, however, there is no low setting for the wipers, only medium, fast and VERY fast. All other wiper and washer functions work fine. Digital clock on the dash does not work. Power front seats work perfect. The vacuum operated release for the emergency brake works, and these are almost always nonfunctional in these cars.
This is a great car, and Ive been driving it regularly. I recently drove it on a trip to Billings, and she absolutely eats up the miles on the highway. Effortlessly cruises at 75mph. I had plans to upgrade the stereo, drop some torque flight wheels on it and air shocks in the back and weekend cruise this thing, but Im losing my winter storage, and I dont want to store this car in the bad weather. You could drive this thing across the country in absolute comfort and confidence. Shes that good. Title is clean and in my name.
