Classic Car Overview
The exterior of this car is absolutely beautiful in every sense of the word. The front valance, rear valence, rocker panels and floor pans were replaced during the restoration process. Countless hours were spent on the body making it straight with excellent gap lines throughout. The hood, doors and trunk lid close very nicely. The car was refinished in the correct shade of factory White which dresses this body-style perfectly. The paint process was epoxy primer, base coat and clear coat. The white paint is in show quality condition and was recently detailed to a brilliant shine by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS. The original convertible top frame was disassembled, media blasted, painted and reassembled. A new replacement black vinyl top was added during the restoration and fits excellent. The top open and closes very nicely. A new convertible top boot is included. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced such as the Bastuck front windshield, weather stripping, wipers, driver's side bullet style mirror, grill, chrome headlight bezels, headlights, turn signal lenses, door lock cylinders, chrome gas cap, chrome luggage rack, taillights, rear chrome bumper, emblems and stickers. The car sits on the factory 15 wheels that were refinished and feature chrome trim rings with red TR6 center caps. The wheels are wrapped with BF Silvertown redline 185/65 tires.
The interior of this car is also absolutely beautiful in every sense of the word. The interior was completely restored in its original color of black. When you're sitting in this car it's like sitting in a new car of the showroom floor. The floors and doors were covered with sound deadening to reduce road noise and heat. Everything has been restored or replaced such as the rear view mirror, dash, wood dashboard, gauges, switches, knobs, steering column, shifter, console, door panels, window cranks, door handles, seats, 3- point seat belts, emergency brake handle with leather boot, pedals and carpeting. The entire heating system was also redone. The seat frames were sanded and painted with new webbing. The steering column was completely rebuilt. It has a beautiful Nardi wood steering wheel with Triumph horn. It also has a Kenwood AM/FM-HD/CD stereo system with Kenwood 6x9 dual cone concert quality 5-way speaker in boxes placed in the rear. It even has a 12-volt outlet that was retrofitted under the glovebox. Everything is in working order including the glovebox light. The trunk compartment was nicely restored. A new TR6 trunk liner kit and carpet mat with the Triumph logo was installed. It's equipped with a matching spare tire and factory jack.
The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout. The entire engine compartment was painted the body color and looks amazing. Everything in the engine compartment was restored or replaced including a complete new wire harness. The car is powered by a modified 2.5L Inline 6 cylinder engine that runs excellent. This engine is believed to be the original engine this car was born with. The engine numbers are correct for this year, etc. The engine block, cylinder head and oil pan was hot tanked. The engine was completely rebuilt with .020 overbore pistons, Competition cam and larger exhaust valves. The cylinder head was shaved .070, crankshaft polished, oil pump rebuilt, timing chain replaced, oil filter converted to spin-on-type and oil cooler was added with braided hoses. It's equipped with a black valve cover with fins, dual Zenith Stromberg carburetors, custom air cleaners, Pertronix electronic ignition, Flame Thrower coil, Cobalt blue wires, Power Lite gear reduction high-torque starter, Delco alternator and Super Start Premium battery with power cutoff knob. The engine
breathes through custom ceramic headers and a custom Monza free flow exhaust system with four chrome tips. This exhaust system sounds so sweet. The engine is cooled by a new cooling system including a water pump, radiator, radiator fan, radiator shroud, heater control valve, heater and radiator hoses, stainless steel manifold to water pump pipe and temperature. The engine is coupled to a rebuilt J-type 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive that works excellent. This transmission is not original to the car. It was sourced out because of the overdrive option which is a great feature. The clutch components were replaced and it shifts really smooth. The power is transferred through the completely rebuilt rear end.
The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout. The entire undercarriage was painted the body color and looks amazing. This undercarriage is nice enough to display with mirrors at a car show. It has new body mount bolts and pads. The frame was media blasted; interior rust was removed and then the interior coated with Eastwood anti-rust frame paint. The exterior frame was coated with two coats of epoxy frame paint. All the suspension parts were also media blasted and coated with two coats of epoxy paint. The front and rear suspension was completely rebuilt. Some drivetrain new parts include the drive shaft, rear axle U-joints, heavy duty Good Parts rear hubs, third-member seals, mounting bushings and new mounting studs that are welded in. The complete braking system was completely rebuilt. Some of the new braking parts include front calipers, rear wheel cylinders, brake pads and shoes, brake springs, master cylinder, brake servo, copper brake lines, rubber hoses, front wheel bearings and seals.
This 1976 Triumph TR6 is unique to most TR6s listed for sale because it was restored to a much higher level and it's been slightly customized. The restoration was a labor of love which is evident throughout. Dare to compare!
