VW Kombi Van Seeing Resurgence in Popularity

The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.

Classic Car Overview

The Triumph TR6 is one of the last great British sports car convertibles. It combines the features we enjoy such as a lively six-cylinder motor, fully independent suspension, and a useful interior. But it doesnt betray the sprightly nature that makes us fall in love on the backroads. Best of all, this has a long maintenance file since new and a low mileage odometer that all show a tradition of good care, including a comprehensive restoration only about seven years ago. The respray in the factory-correct white allows you to stand out in a modern and pristine hue. As you look over the shine, youll understand the level of work that went into the restoration and the good respect this car has seen since then. Having this level of quality really brings out the TR6s design cues. This continuation of the TR series had more muscular fender lines. Even the little details are aggressive such as the bright trim ring around the factory wheels that are reminiscent of Chevys rally package. Its even Coker Classic redline tires! There was also no mistaking its heritage with a flat Kamm-back treatment that was also seen on the larger Triumphs of the day. Theres a minimal amount of brightwork to keep these cars uncluttered, but this one has been updated to keep shiny parts looking their best. The wraparound bumpers have a mirror-like appearance, the race inspired-gas cap is a fun focal point, and the trunk rack is just ready for a picnic basket. Plus, this gives you the choice between a well-fitting soft top and the rarely-seen removable hardtop. They are both done in black to look good against the white and match the full-length pinstripe. While either black roof looks particularly stylish against the bright white, we particularly like the look of this one with the top down. The blue interior is a later upgrade, and it really makes a distinctive difference. The seats, carpeting, and door panels all look nice as part of this later changeover. Its a nicely done setup made for any-time driving with features like thick rubber floor mats and an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo. And speaking of driving, the MotoLita sports steering wheel, the position of the shifter, and the wood dash full of crisp Smiths gauges make this one feel like a true exotic. The TR6 is particularly coveted for its motor. It has a 2.5-liter inline-six backed by dual Stromberg carburetors, so it doesnt suffer from the anemic reputation that some other British sports cars have. In fact, this is one of the larger motors out of the iconic era of sprightly drop-tops When you open the hood, you can instantly see there was plenty invested in the motor. And not only can you clearly see the correct-style components, but also with such an extensive history on this car, we believe this is also the original powerhouse. In a car that weighs barely 2,500 lbs, it has quick acceleration and the power to keep pulling well into highway speeds. Adding to this versatility is the control you get from the four-speed manual transmission. Take the long way home, and youll instantly fall in love with the way the fully independent sport suspension handles in this lightweight classic. And power brakes with front discs make for confident stopping, too. The sale comes complete with the extensive maintenance file, a racing tonneau, and a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate that shows its lineage. It all goes toward proving the level of investment and care this cut-above classic has received. So if youre looking for the best in vintage British motoring dont miss this deal. Call today!!!
