Classic Car Overview

1976 Porsche 914
Restored, California Car

1976 Porsche 914 for sale. It was purchased new at Bob Smith Porsche/Audi in Hollywood, California, on April 15th, 1976, and finished in Diamond Silver Metallic with a black interior. Its previous owner restored the car between 2011 and 2019, making it ready to enjoy. It includes the original owner's manual, warranty/maintenance books, an impressive cache of records dating back to the 1970s, its original California-issued blue and gold license plates, and a clean California title.

The 2.0 L flat-4 engine starts, idles, and runs smoothly with plenty of power. The previous owner went through the motor and performed head resurfacing, a valve job, reseal, and replacement and/or rebuilding of all ancillary items. The engine is dry and tidy, and everything is performing well. The shifting is tight, along with the braking and suspension, making it very nice to drive.

The exterior was repainted in the original Kunstharzlack L97A (Diamond Silver Metallic), a consumer-level yet nice-looking finish that included the jambs and rear trunk. The emblems were replaced, the top refinished, new rubber installed, and the wheels refinished. It rides on Bridgestone Potenza P195/60 R15s, making this 914 very presentable.

The interior looks nice and refreshed, with much of it having been redone, including upholstery, cards and panels, and carpeting. There is a switched fuel mixture gauge under the dash and an aftermarket in-dash stereo. This Porsche is very comfortable for short or long rides.

Many used parts are included; see photos. Also, please note the aftermarket Porsche badged reflector, meaning the trunk key lock and badging were removed to facilitate fitment, requiring a short, stiff wire to open the rear trunk. In addition, and typical of these cars, the ignition switch is worn and working intermittently, so the previous owner opted to add a hidden start button.
