1976 Chrysler Cordoba Hardtop Who can forget that wonderful Spanich rrrroll of the tongue by actor Rrricardo Montalban and his infamous Chrysler Cordoba commercials! And now for consignment that famous car made famous by the famous actor and his use of the words Corinthian Leather . Our second Cordoba! to grace our pasillos sagrados . This car also has just 17,791 non-verifiable miles on the odometer although after looking this car over again and again we believe the miles to be correct! Exterior 1976 brought us the large midsize car meant to save on gas yet still provide comfort for the family to be transported in comfort. So they came up with the Cordoba with its leading edge round headlights and smaller round running turn signal lights flanking the larger headlight. A central chrome encased vertical ribbed grille in V form is on, and a nice corresponding bumper below. Silver Cloud Metallic, presenting as original, adorns this car with a few faults, but overall nicety has been retained. Shiny trimmings for the wheel wells and rockers and a maroon vinyl landau top complete with opera window in on the rear third of the roof. A trunk with room for all the luggage and then some is under the large long rear deck. On either side are rectangle tail lights and below a shiny chrome bumper to cradle the taillights and frame the bottom of the trunk. Polished 15-inch wheel covers are on all 4 corners and wrapped in 215/75R15s all around. Interior Wait for it.....Wait for it....nope....no rich Corrrrrinthian Leather, (swoon and a faint to the couch!). This interior is wrapped in hardly ever seen Castillian cloth and vinyl in dark red adorning the interior surfaces of this classic. Front Santa Fe print velour broadcloth covers the spit bench sitting in front of the original dash setup and a similar Santa Fe pattern rear bench is stretching across the back from cathedral window to cathedral window. All this in a sea of deep pile dark red shag carpeting, and a smooth one piece headliner also in maroon vinyl. Certainly, all that glitters it is.! Hay oro en ellos colinas!! Drivetrain Looking it just drove off the showroom floor this all clean and buttoned up for this numbers matching 400ci V8 with its single 4-barrel carb atop and numbers matching A727 Torqueflite 3-speed automatic transmission on back. A 9.75 inch 2.71 gear rear axle is ripe for the picking. Very nicely detailed and preserved. In a word...seemply beeeeuteeful! with the Lean Burn carburetor and air cleaner removed, but included with your purchase. Undercarriage Some surface rust on the usual suspects like the suspension and driveshaft, but otherwise looking just great. Torsion bar suspension for the front, and leaf springs for the rear along with power disc brakes on front and power drums for the back and a nice solid exhaust, take the wheel and drive to the coast Ricardo! Drive-Ability A quick starter and inside was luxurious in the supple and soft cloth. And as much as I just love saying Corinthian Leather, I cannot and thats ok as my posterior fully appreciates the cloth seating...but I digress to the test track where she lumbered around turns with that cushy 1976 ride, nice smooth acceleration, and bias free panic stopping. I noticed the clock does not keep time and the gauge lights do not illuminate. Always well cared for, potentially low miles, and that snappy Santa Fe cloth interior.
