1976 Cadillac Eldorado
From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.
The no-frills Savoy two-door sedan was home to another engine of considerable repute, the infamous 413 Max Wedge, a Super Stock monster block Chrysler introduced in the spring of 1962.
Classic Car Overview
As the 1970’s came to a close full-size Detroit automobiles started to disappear. With car sizes shrinking so did the engines powering them. 1976 would be the final year for the 500 cubic-inch V8 motor in the Cadillac lineup making this Eldorado one of the last of its breed. With front wheel drive and a host of luxury options the Eldorado was always at the forefront of automobile quality and technology. For 1976, Cadillac offered a special “El Deora” package that included a custom reworked chrome grill, heavy padded landau roof and custom trunk with faux spare tire hump. Cadillac has always built their cars with the best of everything and this special edition coupe follows that trend. The Eldorado is loaded with factory equipment and options like power disc brakes, power steering, power sunroof, air conditioning, power windows, leather interior, power seats, and tilt steering to name just a few. Believed to be a one owner car and have less than 23K original miles this classy coupe is in tremendous condition cosmetically and mechanically.
