Classic Car Overview

1975 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 -4.2L Inline 6 Cylinder -135 Horsepower -4 Speed Manual Transmission -94k Miles -Fully Restored (Please note: If you happen to be viewing this 1975 Toyota FJ40 and its trailer on a website other than our Garage Kept Motors site, its possible that youve only seen some of our many photographs of this vehicle due to website limitations. To be sure you access all the more than 200 photographs, as well as a short walk-around-and-startup video, please go to our main website: GarageKeptMotors.) Fishing... hunting... camping, wherever youre headed... go with the Tough Toyota.... Toyota FJ40 period magazine advertisement Back in the day, that magazine advertising copy was right on the money. The rugged, safari-tested reliability of the Toyota FJ40 made it the perfect choice for people headed out to the wilds for outdoor recreation. In most respects, thats still true nowadays as the continuing popularity of the FJ40 demonstrates. But theres one nagging issue: Today, pursuits like back-country skiing, upriver kayaking, and ultimate rock-climbing have been added to the growing list of adventure sports. The related vehicle issue is cargo space. Todays outdoorsperson-and his or her companion-needs to bring a good deal more equipment along for the trip. Multiple rucksacks, coiled rope and climbing gear, tents, stoves, kayaks and canoes, and all sorts of related equipment-to say nothing of food and bedding-can often exceed the FJ40s cargo-carrying capacity. What was once ample in the seventies no longer suffices almost fifty years later. So, either get a bigger SUV... or change the game for the FJ. Offered here is a true game-changer of an FJ40 providing nearly triple the cargo capacity by way of a matching trailer, without sacrificing its rough-country capability. Think of it as an FJ-Plus1. The pair makes for an adventurers dream. The lead vehicle is a fully restored 1975 FJ. Its power comes by way of a 4.2-liter, 6- cylinder engine putting out 135 horsepower, linked to a floor-mounted 4-speed synchromesh transmission. Like all FJs, the vehicle was built with reinforced steel-- from the solid steel front bumper to the chassis-riveted and welded to take punishment. Power front disc brakes provided controlled deceleration important for reliable trail-driving. The exterior of the FJ has been professionally repainted in a bright, Pacific Ocean-blue. Or North Carolina mountain blue. Or Lake Michigan winter blue. (Your choice.) The paint is in excellent condition, uniformly applied and glossy across the entire vehicle. The front bumper includes an oversized brush-guard, a power winch, and twin towing hooks with pintles; in the rear the factory swing-away spare-tire carrier is in place. Light-gray steel wheels wear BFG Mud-Terrain tires (with a matching spare). All body emblems are in place. Cabin glass and lighting lenses are clear and free of cracks. The cabin roof is painted white to reflect the suns rays. On-roof added equipment includes auxiliary lighting, a surfboard and carrier, a custom, enlarged roof rack with added gear, shovels, netted stowage compartment, spare fuel cans and more, all included. The interior of the FJ matches the color and condition of the exterior. Black rubber floor matting and vinyl upholstery are in place, as is the factory roll cage system. The simplicity of the dash is maintained, and the original steering wheel is in place. The floor-mounted 4-speed shifter also retains its factory knob. Door trim and center-facing, fold-up rear seats are free of damage. All factory data plates are in place and properly mounted. Under the hood, the engine bay is complete and tidy, but not overly detailed. The trucks undercarriage shows surface rust across many surfaces (but no body-panel rust)reflecting its 94,000-mile journey to date. However, there are no signs of abuse-no trail or rock damage-on any surface or component, including the exhaust system.
