Classic Car Overview
A local fellow's car, just took in trade
41,000 original miles, no rust, lime yellow original paint has stood the test of time fairly well. (although there are a number of spots where the paint has been touched up) No rust underneath, very clean engine and trunk compartments.
A lot of recent work done....new convertible top (which makes the interior surprisingly quiet when driving), new Minilite style alloy wheels, new 165/70 radials, new brakes front and rear, new electronic ignition, new battery and alternator, new speakers and digital stereo, some new electrical items. Heater works fantastically and, during my first drive with the top on, it was getting too hot!
All gauges work, has 'like new' oil pressure, no smoke, the 1500cc engine runs well, has and all synchromesh transmission, very good original tonneau and boot cover, excellent interior (looks almost like new), original jack and lug wrench, wiring and electrics are all in good condition, runs and drives wonderfully.
At the moment, we are looking for the proper parts to convert the car to chrome bumpers. Just a thought.
Otherwise a cute little sports car with reasonably modern safety equipment. Cruises nicely at 70 mph, excellent steering and handling, and sure braking with its disc brakes.
More performance is available with the installation of a downdraft 32/26 DGV Weber carb. Otherwise, a fun little Summer classic that has obviously seen little use since new.
This is how I describe the color: you know a fella in NYC, sophisticated, affluent, educated and there he is, one day, wearing god awful lime green pants with a yellow shirt. AWFUL. That is, until you discover he was just playing golf. Where those colors are kind of expected. And this MG Midget...an odd color until you consider the use of the car, a countryside drive, take it to the beach, wander around aimlessly. Suddenly the color doesn't seem so odd.
At least that is my take on the color. And yes, consider there is no rust, you could always get a cheap paintjob in BRG and dye the interior in tan.
