Classic Car Overview

1975 MG MGB Roadster
California Car, Reliable, Budget-Friendly, Pre-Smog Roadster

Nice little 1975 MG MGB Roadster for sale. This California car was originally finished in Brilliant Blue and was repainted white under the previous owner's ownership, with the original blue paint still visible in the engine compartment. It includes its original blue-and-gold California license plates and is trimmed with a black interior, a black convertible top, and a matching convertible top boot cover. Factory equipment includes the 1.8-liter inline-four, four-speed manual transmission, twin SU carburetors, front disc brakes, factory rubber bumpers, and Rostyle steel wheels with chrome trim rings. Accompanying the car are its owner's manual, extensive service records documenting approximately $8,000 in recent mechanical work, accessory receipts, and a clear California title.

The 1.8-liter inline-four starts easily, runs smoothly, and idles well with plenty of power for enjoyable back-road cruising. The four-speed manual transmission shifts cleanly through the gears, while the clutch engages smoothly. Steering, suspension, and braking feel tight and responsive, making this MGB an enjoyable and confidence-inspiring classic to drive. Since 2023, the car has benefited from approximately $8,000 in documented mechanical servicing, including replacement of the water pump, thermostat, fuel pressure regulator, ignition points and condenser, clutch slave cylinder, clutch hose, transmission seals and mounts, rear brake hose, inner tie rods, suspension limiting straps, four new Nexen tires, a wheel alignment, transmission service, carburetor tuning, brake fluid flushes, and routine oil services. The result is a well-sorted driver that is ready to be enjoyed.

The older white repaint has a good shine from a few feet away and presents as an honest driver-quality finish, with various chips, blemishes, and imperfections consistent with age and regular use. The glass, black rubber bumpers, exterior trim, lights, and emblems remain presentable, while the factory-style Rostyle steel wheels with chrome trim rings are wrapped in matching Nexen radial tires with good tread depth. The black convertible top and matching boot cover complement the black interior, and the car retains its original blue-and-gold California license plates. Originally finished in blue, the color was changed to white under prior ownership, with areas of the original blue paint still visible beneath the hood. Overall, it has the approachable, well-used appearance of a classic roadster meant to be driven and enjoyed rather than treated as a show car.

The black interior is comfortable and welcoming, presenting as an honest driver-quality cabin that has been well cared for over the years. The bucket seats are supportive, the door panels and carpets show well, and the dash retains its classic, uncluttered appearance. Factory instrumentation is easy to read, and all of the essential controls are within easy reach. Simple, functional, and unmistakably British, the cabin delivers the engaging open-air driving experience that has made the MGB one of the world's most enduring and enjoyable classic sports cars.

This is an excellent opportunity to own a 1975 MG MGB Roadster that has benefited from extensive recent mechanical servicing while remaining an affordable entry into classic British sports car ownership. With approximately $8,000 in documented maintenance since 2023, a solid California history, its original blue-and-gold California license plates, the owner's manual, service records, and a clear California title, this well-sorted MGB is ready to be driven and enjoyed. If you've always wanted to experience the charm of a classic British roadster without breaking the bank, this MGB offers timeless styling, engaging driving dynamics, and open-air motoring at an accessible price.
