Classic Car Overview
1975 Levi Edition Renegade: Rebuilt, Upgraded Beast with rare 390 V8
This is a professionally restored and upgraded 1975 Levi Edition Jeep CJ-5 with only 32 miles since completion. It has been in the same family since it was originally sold in Arizona and then came to Colorado in 1982. It is rust and accident free truck, with incredible patina, immense power, period-correct upgrades and fairly outrageous presence. The truck is finished in the original gloss black with the gold Renegade package and is powered by an AMC 390ci V8, paired with a Borg-Warner T15 3-speed transmission, Dana 44 rear and Dana 30 front axle with locking hubs.
From factory it came with the the double-barrel 304, but in 1979 the owner wanted to add power, and transplanted a 390 out of an AMC Javelin. Features include original Renegade and Levis badging, 2 black soft tops, a 8,000-lb Ramsey winch, original mag wheels in gold, custom chrome bumpers and bright side steps, trailer hitch, rear-mounted swing -style spare tire carrier with original Gerry cans, the high-back front bucket seats and the 1975 Levi Edition CJ-5 owners manual. The interior is upholstered in black vinyl (over original Levi seats, with 2 Levi buttons saved but not installed) and features a full custom cage, deleted rear bench, padded Levi dash top, and body-color steel surfaces. Power Steering, 4X4, new windshield, wiper blades, upgraded ignition wires, ignition module, new plugs, with full service complete. Steel guards for protecting undercarriage. Fast ratio power Steering. New clutch.
Engine: 32 miles on the rebuilt 390 V8. This is the beast AMC 390 that was stock 325 HP and 425 ft. lbs of torque at 3200 RPM and was swapped from a 1969 AMC Javelin (in 1979). In December of 2023, the engine was professionally re-built by Atlas Performance Racing (http://www.atlasperformanceracing.com) and no expense was spared on the build (over $6400). Butt dyno feels like 400+ HP and it sounds like a monster truck. Custom headers and wrapped exhaust with badass side pipes. Atlas builds 2000+ HP drag racing cars and punched this motor out, decked, all new valves, gaskets, and the new clutch and slave installed. New custom wires, new ignition, new ignition module, gaskets and professionally tuned. New battery. The starter had to be upgraded to the race spec Hi-Po unit.
Brakes: New power brakes upgraded with AfterMax Booster, new hard lines and front drums rebuilt. Easy powerful braking motion - much safer and easier to modulate. Needed with the upgraded power unit...
Driveline: Borg-Warner T15 3-speed transmission with the Dana 44 rear and Dana 30 front axle. Upgraded axles and driveshaft with corrected angle. Chromed covers the diffs. The Dana package is top-shelf - you could swap the 4-speed in if you wanted better highway travel.
Lifted to the sky. 4" Lift with period Rancho Front & Rear Suspension. Upgraded Stabilizers and Polyurethane Bushing Kit and too much to list. Work was done in the 1980s and additional modern upgrades are an opportunity to get more performance from the beast. 36X14.5R15 Gumbo Montster Mudder tires on the original Jeep wheels. They were custom painted and are in excellent condition.
Ramsey 8000 LB Winch: Model DCB200R-630. Professionally serviced by Stevinson Restorations: both solenoids were removed and rebuilt, and complete service done on fluids zerks/grease. It has the original 10 foot remote control plus additional rescue rope. Upgraded to a new horn-hook and welded cable. Sadly the manual has been water-stained, but included. Jeep manual in great condition and included (along with 3 boxes of original parts, extra goodies, etc).
Hard/Soft Top: Currently installed with the custom cage and older soft-top with open doors windows. This includes the rear cover and window. Comes with a brand new in-box bikini top, plus original windowed doors to enclose the cabin. The vintage 'MERICA flag "four wheel drive" floormats are too damn cool. Fuel, Temp, volt, speedo and RPM gauges work correctly. All lights and turn signals work, with upgraded tip-light toggles for accessories.
Comes with 3 pairs of additional lights which were added in the early 1980s: front roll-bar mounted, A-pillar mounted spotter cop lights (two), and windshield top-mounted KC roundies.
