Classic Car Overview
I know some of you doubt the miles, but the paperwork and pictures of the interior back up the odometer. This truck was found in Nebraska and purchased from the original owners next of kin upon their passing. It was used as the vacation truck and fitted with a drop in camper. To support the weight they added Camper Special style springs on the rear axle. Everything works from the dome lights to the windshield washer pump and cigarette lighter.
My goal with this truck was to make it a reliable daily driver with style, and after driving it for the last 4 years Im sure it was a success. I updated a few key parts to improve performance; modern intake and carburetor, new cooling and braking systems to make it a better driver.
Intake Upgrades:
Edelbrock Performer dual plane intake - removed near 100 pound cast intake and EGR plate/system
4 barrel (vacuum secondaries) Holley 650 CFM carburetor - still have the original Motorcraft 2 barrel carb
Removed the Ford snorkel and added pro flow air cleaner
Cooling Upgrades:
New oversized radiator - 4 core
New Water pump
Thermostat housing and thermostat
Radiator Hoses
Fiberglass 6 blade fan
Breaking Upgrades:
New master cylinder
New front rotors, hubs and bearings
New brake calipers and pads
New rear drums, wheel cylinders and rear hard lines
Other Upgrades/Work:
18 inch wheels with staggered Michelin XL T 235 60 Front and 245 60 Rear tires
New steering coupler (rag joint)
New heater core
Distributor and spark plug wires
Headlights
Retrosound Hermosa bluetooth stereo (have the original Philco AM radio) [only have the single in dash speaker as the doors were never drilled to run wire for door speakers]
Smaller flexible antenna so can go in car wash (have the original stainless steel one)
Transmission was professionally evaluated and resealed
I have rear bench seat 4 point harnesses that I used for my kids car seats and booster seats
Caveats:
While the paint and body is incredible for a near 50 year old Nebraska barn truck, it is not flawless. There are small scratches and pin rust spots on every panel primarily on the front of the hood and bedside rails. 3 small pea size gouges above the rear tire on the inside edge of the bed on each side, I think from the camper that was dropped in.
There is a bed dent on the top rail near the rear of the cab with surface rust
Small dents near the top of the tailgate
There is one pea size burn hole on the driver side bench
I didn't undercoat the frame so there is surface rust on the frame, but no heavy rust/pitting/flaking. I want to represent as a survivor so didn't want to hide its age.
The bed has some surface rust on the floor near the tailgate
It had dual gas tanks but the secondary tank was heavily rusted out and was removed. I didn't add a replacement.
