Classic Car Overview

1974 Triumph TR6 Roadster For consignment, a 1974 Triumph TR6 roadster showing 96,054 miles, but the true miles are unknown. The TR6 was produced from 1969 to 1976 and changes in 1974 included new interior trim available in two new colors, and a full tonneau was now standard. Exterior The most muscular looking of Triumphs to come along, they look great in just about any color and this example is festooned in Damson Red paint, sandwiched by the black of the canvas top and of course, tire below. Those tires are mounted on 15-inch wheels with TR6 on the center cap, and they have a date code of early 2022. The rear panel is also black which highlights the multi-hued tail lights that wrap the corners. Both front and rear bumpers have tubular bumper guards, a feature we rarely see and apparently a dealer option back in the day. Out back, the Union Jack is on the fenders and twin dual exhaust rises from beneath the bumper and a luggage rack is provided above, and all the chrome is in very nice condition. Imperfections include some cracking in the paint, some paint runs, and a scuff. Interior While black was standard, Chestnut and New Tan were introduced in 1974 and our example displays a saddle tone of the New Tan, stunningly applied to the door panels with smooth coverage, and on the bucket seats with the characteristic textured insert and both the door and seats are immaculate. That condition bleeds back to the package shelf with tan carpet surrounded in the saddle vinyl. The clean black steering wheel leads to the wooden dash that houses the gauges and switchgear in a spotless presentation. The plastic console in the middle takes in the AM/FM radio and the modest shifter wrapped in a black boot. The trunk is lined with a basic carpeted mat and shows cleanly. Drivetrain Minor patina but still very presentable at a show, the engine bay holds a 2498cc inline six cylinder under the bonnet, rated at 101 horsepower and fueled through 2 Stromberg 175CD SU carburetors. A 4-speed manual is behind it, routing power to the rear axle and 3.80 gears. Undercarriage Generally clean and driver quality underneath with typical surface rust and some residual oil about. The dual exhaust travels through glasspack mufflers and resonators before exiting out back via four chrome tips. Power brakes are supplied and are disc in front and drums in back. Suspension consists of coil springs in the front and rear with semi-trailing arms assisting in the back. Drive-Ability ts one of our favorites here at the mall and more often than not, are capable of delivering a spirited ride with nice power and nimble handling. This one checks those boxes and looks good doing it. The only thing that doesnt work is the radio and all other functions work as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Its not only a staff favorite at the mall, but also a customer favorite. TR6s sell and heres another nice example waiting for a weekend dance partner. 91,850 TR6s were produced over eight years and were thrilled to represent a small percentage of them over the years. Heres a wine colored stunner for you to sip on. Shall we decant it for you now?
