Classic Car Overview

1974 Porsche 911 Targa

This car is a driver!
Not perfect and not a jalopy - just begs to be driven.

The 1974 model year saw the most significant evolution of the Porsche 911 with the introduction of new G-Series bodywork along with fuel-injected 2.7-liter flat-six engines across the model range.

Introduced in 1974, the G-Body 911 is distinguished from its long-hood predecessor by its integrated bumpers with black bellows and a full-width taillight reflector panel.

Only 246 Targas made it to the US market in 1974.

This is a 1974 Porsche 911 Targa with an updated 3.0 L from a 1981 911 SC.
It has all the components for an outlaw Porsche in the making.
Delivered new on April 23, 1974 at Forest Lane Porsche in Dallas, Texas with 29 miles on the odometer! This 5-Owner 911 Targa (G Series #1,745 of 3,110) was a Dallas, Texas car since for years. Over the years, the car was used primarily as a weekend/fun car, with the occasional drive to the office. Many years ago, the original 2.7 Liter was removed and replaced with an engine that is a little more rev happy, a 3.0 L from a 911 SC! With the addition of the 3.0 Liter engine, you maintain the classic early 911 look, with the feel of a '81 911 SC!
A complete re-spray (paint code 936-9-3) was performed under previous ownership, as well as FUCH wheel re-finishing and a refurbished Targa top with new seals! At the time of the re-spray an aftermarket fiberglass ducktail was added for more of an RS look. Currently showing 46,653 miles on the odometer; while TMU, the mileage on this Targa appears consistent given the overall condition of the original chassis miles to the car. Over the years, this 911 Targa has been slowly modified into its "Outlaw" form by previous and current ownership with the following items added/updated:
-New Odyssey 925 battery 11/2021
-Rennline battery mount kit
-New CV Axle Boots
-Carrera Oil-Fed Chain Tensioner
-New Air-Box and Pop-Off Valve
-Wevo Classic Shifter
-Momo Prototipo Steering Wheel

-New Fuel Pump
-New Fuel Cap/Skirt

-custom leather fuel flap

Leakdown and compression test performed on the engine at 40,909 miles (1/2016). All of the cylinders were 4% and under on leakdown and the compression was between 145-150psi.

Targa was last inspected and serviced Feb of 2023 by TPWS in Austin, TX. Major fix included discovery and diagnosis of a bad fuel distributor. New unit installed and engine re-tuned. Multiple little things were also addressed and resolved such as inoperable horn, throttle pedal travel, loose shifter knob, battery bracket mount, license plate lights and a clean up of the fuse box and wiring from previous ownership.

Will also include few extra part including original door cards, original headlights, and full set of Martini stripe decals along with original owners manual and 2 keys.

Like any good air-cooled engine, she has a few Porsche drips but nothing major, she just deserves to be driven more than I have been able to do so. With the addition of several tasteful upgrades and modifications, this Targa is ready for her next caretaker.
