Coupe Car for sale in Vista, California 92083
It's hard to imagine that the Pontiac GTO might never have made it into production. Had it not been for a small group of managers at Pontiac who were also car enthusiasts and visionaries, the GTO might not have been.

Classic Car Overview
PHS documented 1974 GTO. Bought by the original owner late in 1973 at McGrath Motors in Barstow Ca. He was a US Marine stationed near by. I purchased the car from his family a short time ago. Unfortunately the engine was fatally injured on March 16th 1983. (The last day it was driven until I drove it a few weeks ago). I focused on getting the car roadworthy.
I completely replaced all brake hoses, wheel cylinders, calipers and linings. The rest of the numbers matching drive line got new bearings and seals. I installed a correct #46 Head 555 cam 350 4BBL. I was able to rebuild the original carb. Reconditioned the original manifolds. Both intake and exhaust.
I re-cored the original radiator and installed the heater core. The wiring is in remarkably good shape. The dash panel was never cut and the original radio is mounted. All the glass is good no broken or scratch.glass (factory tint).
The paint, rubber and plastic has been baked. This car sat within miles of Death Valley. Good news driest place in North America. The car has zero rust there are only two small dents. Imagine no cutting and welding. Lots of sanding but in this case it’s 1/2 the price to get paint back on it. I painted the scoop the color I was thinking about painting it. The original color was Fire Coral Bronze. The Interior is the tan or saddle color. I have good keys with correct codes. The car drives like they did in 1974. This is a great project car for someone that is not mechanical. It needs lots of love. I have to face the fact I have too many Pontiac projects. This one is fun but I don’t have the time right now to finish it and it would be a shame for it to take another long nap. The A/C system will require new hoses fabricated. I have the Harrison compressor, I suggest it be gone through and have an A/C shop finish the installation. I reconditioned a set of 15 rally II wheels and brand new BFG white letters. I still plan to get it to the alignment shop. If you are a local buyer (so cal) it needs nothing to get you home. A hearty sole that wants to make a cross country trek, it has to be run through alignment and be “nut and bolted”.
Extra parts. I have a few things that will go with the car. A nice used head light trim, the right side one has a small dent. The parts for the A/C lines. I also have the 14 inch rally II wheels I believe are the original ones for the car.
Someone is going to get a great car. I am firm on the price but will consider interesting trades, please text the number do not call it as my phone sends calls from unknown phones to voicemail.
I have many more pictures and will take more for a serious buyer
