Its Alive Automotive is pleased to offer on behalf of the original owner this incredibly well preserved, original 1 owner, 1974 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 455 Super Duty with Only 16,586 actual miles!! This rare Super Duty with Numbers matching 455ci V8 engine (290hp - 395ft/lbs of torque), is only one of 731 assembled with this drivetrain.
The owner special ordered the car new in October 1973 from Cordes Pontiac in Cedar Falls, Iowa. This incredibly rare Firebird Trans AM Super Duty is one of only 943 455 SDs produced for the 1974 model year; of which only 731 were equipped with the 3-speed Turbo Hydramatic automatic transmission. Being a factory special order, it is incredibly likely that this is one of very few built to these exact specifications. The original Buccaneer Red finish is approximately 90% original and the special ordered red interior with black seats remains virtually untouched except for a new headliner and a few minor details.
This numbers matching 455ci SD engine remains in place and factory markings are evident. Even more incredible is the assortment of options and features that are listed on the original window sticker, which still accompanies the car today along with the original sales receipt, original license plates, original keys and original title. The original hand written order invoice from the selling dealer is included in addition to the original receipt showing the car paid for on March 9th 1974. The car is also registered with Pontiac Historic Services. The Trans Am is equipped with factory air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, rally gauges, soft ray glass, edge moldings throughout and the custom trim group including the black and red interior. While the car new cost nearly $6,000 over $1,500 was spent on these and other options. This Super Duty presents an incredibly rare opportunity for the muscle car collector to purchase one of the very last of the high performance cars from the 70s as it remains in original condition with only 16,586 actual miles! As such, the car is not without some minor flaws that can only be viewed upon very close inspection, but as they say its only original once. Finding a car like this with this kind of originality, low mileage and the fact that it is offered from the original owner represents the kind of opportunity that car collectors dream of. This Super Duty will only appreciate in value for its future owner should it remain in the condition that it is offered in today! Should the new owner wish to occasionally drive the Pontiac, it should be noted that the car still wears its original Uniroyal tires which are not suited for long term use.
