The Beta Coup was launched in June 1973, with Lancia Works preparing roughly a dozen 1.8-litre coups to compete in Group 3 for the 1974 season. By the summer, the Beta was homologated for Group 4 with all existing Works cars converted.
This Beta Coup was owned by Lancia S.p.A. and then sold to Scuderia Grifone, who liveried the car in white with the bonnet sporting two large blue stripes and H F letters. For the 1974 season, Bruno Ferraris was partnered by co-driver Daniele Cianci. Grifone rallied chassis number 1050 until 1977, when the car was sold to Roberto Beretta who campaigned it through to 1980. He retained this Beta Coup until 1994, after which the car changed hands and joined a large private collection in 2016. It was sold in 2024 to the current owner, who went on to compete in the Modena Cento Ore and spent 50,000 to prepare the Lancia for historic rallying events.
A time-warp example, this Group 4 Beta Coup is one of the earliest examples prepared by Lancia Works and has a fascinating competition history.
