Ten years after the initial announcement of the E-Type (nearly to the day), Jaguar introduced the Series III. While intended to be sold with a choice of the classic Inline-6 or a new V12, the company quickly decided to focus solely on the V12 when interest for the six-cylinder variant proved lacking. With more power (272hp claimed by the factory) and luxury than ever before, the Series III proved to be the culmination of development for the model.
Standard power steering, optional extras including air conditioning and an automatic transmission, and a longer wheelbase meant the new car offered a more pleasant, grand touring-style experience over the more sport-focused iterations in the past. Each iteration of the E-Type is a joy a drive, with examples of the third series offering an incredible combination of comfort and outright performance.
The superb 1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III 5.3 Roadster featured here is finished in gorgeous Regency Red over a Biscuit leather interior with a Beige folding convertible top and an incredibly rare factory removable hardtop. This exquisite motorcar has been beautifully restored and is now ready to be shown or driven. With standard and optional amenities including wire wheels, power steering, and, most importantly, air conditioning, this investment-grade example checks all the boxes, especially considering its stunning color combination, high level restoration, and provenance. Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own one of the very best at an investment price!
