1974 Ford Elite

This is an almost all-original 1974 Ford Gran Torino Elite with only 19,800 miles! This name only existed for ONE YEAR, becoming the Ford Elite for 1975 and 1976. This was the introductory-level "personal luxury vehicle." It shares the same platform as the 1974 Mercury Cougar & Lincoln Continental Mark IV.

It has the 351W Windsor V8 engine with an automatic transmission. It was repainted at some point and it looks very good. It's not perfect, so I'm not calling it "excellent" condition, but it looks and shows very well. Drives great too and I have recently opened her up a little more on the highway, with no shakes, rattles, etc. I get lots of looks and comments. I purchased her in November 2019 in Detroit, flew one-way and drove her down to Atlanta where I lived. Moved back to Jacksonville in October 2021 and also drove her down with no problems.

Before driving down from Atlanta, I first took her to a repair shop for service and a full checkup. I found a great mechanic and got all the belts replaced, a new battery, oil change and a full tuneup, with everything else checking out great.

There are a few minor issues now, as the AC is not cold, and the belt snapped on the compressor the other day. The wire behind the heater/AC controls in the dash needs replacing too. Also, the trunk leaks a little on one side, but it seems to only happen when I wash it and using the high pressure spray nozzle. I immediately dry it out and I keep a DampRid in the trunk.

She was garage-kept most of her life, but is now parked outside. I do have a very high-quality cover (cost almost $400) and I keep her covered and safely parked.
