Classic Car Overview
To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys The Woodcote Park Auction event, 8 July 2026.
Offered Without Reserve 230,000 - 260,000 GBP
Developed to counter the threat from Lamborghinis existing Miura and forthcoming Countach models, the 365 GT4 BB broke new ground as Ferraris first-ever flat-12-engined road car. The lightest, fastest, and rarest of Ferraris three Berlinetta Boxer models, total production amounted to just 387 cars, of which a mere 58 were made in right-hand drive for the United Kingdom.
Per the accompanying copies of original order forms, legendary UK importer Maranello Concessionaires lodged a request for a 365 GT4 BB from Ferrari on 6 June 1974. The Maranello factory duly returned a right-hand-drive car finished in Azzurro Metallizzato over a Blu leather interior, specified with air conditioning and a Voxson radio. That car was chassis number 18123, offered here, which was transported to the United Kingdom by lorry in November 1974. After being received by its importer, the Ferrari was soon sold to the dealer Ian Anthony Sales of Bury in January 1975 and registered for the road the following month. The Ferraris first owner was a resident of Leigh, Lancashire.
Invoices on file date to the 1970s and document maintenance throughout the cars earliest years. Importantly, the presence of workshop invoices and MoT certificates that cover much of the cars history help to verify the odometer reading of just 19,481 miles at the time of cataloguing, which is believed to be accurate. Having accrued 16,858 miles by May 1987, then 17,852 miles by June 1992, the Ferrari has been used sparingly over the ensuing three decades. The history file shows important and significant maintenance tasks performed by Omicron Engineering in the 2000s prior to Ferrari-specialist workshop Foskers undertaking key servicing work before facilitating the sale of the 365 GT4 BB to the consigning owner in July 2015.
In the care of the vendor for over 10 years, the Ferrari is documented to have been maintained by both DK Engineering and HR Owen. The former renewed the cambelt as part of a service in 2023, while also performing the most recent of the cars maintenance in October 2025. At this point the carburettors were removed and overhauled, the blower motor replaced, wiring repairs overseen, and road testing completed. The car is supplied with a tool roll, jack, Warranty Card, and owners guides.
Presented in its factory-correct colour combination and fitted with its matching-numbers flat-12 engine, while offering the assurance of Ferrari Classiche Red Book certification and with low recorded mileage, this stunning 365 GT4 BB would be a prime contender for exhibition and enjoyment at many of the finest supercar meetings.
