White · 2 Cylinder · 820 miles

For sale Citroën Mehari 1974 restored in excellent condition. Every single part is new and coming from the renowned Mehari Club of Cassis.

This is a really beautiful restored 1974 Citroën Mehari, with a brand new 602 cc, 2 cyl, 33 HP engine  and a 4 speed manual gearbox.  In its Azur style wonderful combination, considered as the most appreciated Mehari model in France,  the paint is in white with blue doors and front grille, white and blue interior and a blue cabrio top. This car has only be driven 780 kms since its restauration. This feel like a brand new car!!! The auto body is shining and being UV resistant, it is perfect for sunny weather as it has been redone in the original Citroen mold now owned by the Club of Cassis. It had been garaged since I got it and has been pampered after every single time I took it for a small ride. This is perfect beach car to be driven in California, as this car is street legal and has been registered at the DMV. I have a clear California title in my name. It is registered in CA as a 1974 model. I also have the original French licence plates and a copy of the original french title (Grey card), as the DMV kept the original “grey cardâ€.

Citroen is the original Car Manufacturer of the model named MEHARI. This model was manufactured from 1968 to June 30 1987 in France. During that time, Citroen sold the MEHARI in the US market (about 980 units)  and obtained EPA credentials to import vehicles into the United States and in California.

Inspired by the Austin Mini Moke, the Citroen Mehari first appeared in prototype form in 1967 and like its British counterpart was based on a standard production car. In the Citroen’s case it was the Dyane 6 version of the inimitable 2CV so the Mehari featured the latter’s torsion-bar suspension and air-cooled 602cc twin-cylinder engine driving the front wheels. The open body was made of ABS plastic and, like the Moke, a detachable soft-top and side screens served as weather protection. Taking its name from a type of Camel known for its speed, the Mehari was first launched at the golf of Deauville on May 16Th, 1968 and would remain in the range for almost the next 20 years, only disappearing when 2CV production ceased in France in 1987, by which time a total of 144,953 had been made. In May 2018, the Méhari will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

I purchased this car in France 2 years ago and imported it into the U.S. after being 100% restored to the original specifications by Renov Mehari, one of the few specialists in France to renovate Mehari like the original car was in 1974 when it was delivered to its first owner.

It is surely an opportunity not to be missed to own and drive such a rare and quirky vehicle.
