Classic Car Overview

1974 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe For consignment, a 1974 Chevrolet Corvette coupe with a title verified 45,719 actual miles. This is a three owner, numbers matching L-82 example in Classic White and wearing side pipes. As Vette-Vues writes, the 1974 Corvette is highly sought after by collectors for several reasons. Its unique design changes and the transitional nature of its production year add to its allure. . Exterior Unmistakably a Corvette, the long nose encircles the front wheels with arched fenders that are accentuated by the fender duct and trailing cove that in one form or another, always adorns a Corvette. The shoulder line dips on the door, then rises slightly to take in a flush door handle on its way to the rear arch, completing the Coke bottle profile. Out back, the 1974 only rear seam is seen in the bumper cover, losing the chrome bumper and setting a trend of body colored panels that lives on in the C8. On top, body colored T-tops meet a vertical C-pillar and raked windshield which in turn descends to the cowl vents on the center rise of the hood. Thrush side pipes travel the length of the rocker panel. Overall, the paint and trim is very nice. Imperfections include some cracking bondo on the body and seams, touched up scuffs and cracks, and variance in shades of white between the impact end caps and main body. Interior Stylish door panels greet entrants with angled features and a simulated woodgrain panel bordered with silver trim and both doors present cleanly. The leather buckets are in great shape with some patina creasing on the drivers side and each wear, for the first time, integrated shoulder lap seat belts. By todays standards, the steering wheel has a thin rim but is contoured for fingers making it comfortable and grippy. It leads to the standard instrument cluster that places tach and speedometer in front of the driver and a series of five dials in the center stack, always reminding us of an aircraft configuration. Below that panel is an AM/FM radio looking completely original and the surrounding plastic is in good shape. The wood veneer on the center console shows a touch of patina and sun fading while housing the thumb dial controls for the A/C, then the epic ball shifter with double grip reverse lock release. The hand brake housing has also been sunbathing and sports a crack in addition to fade. The charcoal carpet on the floor and cargo area also shows some exposure while Corvette branded mats reside in the footwell. Drivetrain Pulling the hood forward reveals the numbers matching 350ci L82 V8 rated at 250 horsepower and receiving fuel from a 4-barrel carburetor. Behind it, the numbers matching Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission routing power to the rear axle with 3.55 gears with Positraction. Power disc brakes are found on all four corners. Undercarriage Driver quality underneath with a good amount of surface rust throughout and general age patina. Dual exhaust turns quickly to the side to enter Thrush sidepipes in a finned heat shield. Suspension is made up of coil springs in front, and Corvettes unique independent rear suspension is present and capped off with transverse leaf springs. Drive-Ability We take our seat, positioned in a more reclined attitude with legs flat to the floor, and grab that satisfying shifter to take the car around the loop. The engine purrs like a kitten, or lion, and the 350 demonstrates respectable power and acceleration. Wide tires on the 15-inch Chevy Rally wheels creates a stable stance and great handling and the only items we note not working are the A/C and the tachometer. All others operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Do a keyword search for numbers matching, and very few 1974 Corvettes would likely come up. It is the holy grail youre looking for when adding to your collection and the L82 is icing on this white cake! Heres a low mileage example of a 51 year old classic that is ready for owner number four. 1Z37T4S431837 1-Chevrolet Z-Corvette 37-Coupe T-350ci 4bbl 250hp L82 V8 4-1974 S-St. Louis, MO Assy Plant 431837-Sequential Unit Number TRIM TAG K18-June 18th TRIM 404-Black Leather PAINT 910-Classic White Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (thats more than 8 acres!).
