Classic Car Overview

1973 VW Thing for sale. During a family vacation to Hawaii in the early 70's that included an amazing rental car experience in a Volkswagen THING, the owner of this VW knew he had to buy one. In fact, this was the second one he bought. This THING was purchased in 1976 in Eugene, Oregon and has remained there since. With wheels painted to match the exterior yellow, he completed the look with yellow upholstery. Shortly after it was purchased, the engine was "hot rodded" a bit and bumped up to 2.2 liters. A true 71,176 car, this engine has not turned over 100k miles.

With a great sounding exhaust (sound clip in the video) and a soft top for the summer, this VW pulls a lot of smiles from passerby's. In 2023 the owner performed maintenance in the form of an engine tune-up, brake pads and shoe replacement, and new tires. Enjoy this summer with the top down in this unique classic and let the wind blow through your hair as you cruise to your favorite hike, beach, lake, or coffee shop.
