VW Kombi Van Seeing Resurgence in Popularity

The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.

Classic Car Overview

A three owner Super Beetle in mostly original condition. Was purchased from the second owners in 2019 (they had owned it since 1979) with roughly 78,500 miles on it and has been driven mostly on weekends since purchased. The mileage is original; has a Box A, Arizona title. Under our stewardship it has had new heads installed due to cracking around the spark plug sockets, new brake drums and shoes, a new fuel pump, rebuilt carburetor, rebuilt distributor, new generator, coil, plugs, and regular valve adjustments and oil changes; it does leak oil at the sump plate.

Previous owners had the seats reupholstered and the car was repainted from it's original baby blue to the dark blue you see. It looks ok from a distance, but it was not a high quality paint job. The car was purchased in Arizona, but originally from Oregon, and I don't think they prepped very well before repainting. There is rust above the driver's side rear fender under the vent behind the window. It has gotten worse during the last few years, and should be addressed. Otherwise the body and frame appear rust free.

The front suspension has a lot of rebound--the struts need to be replaced. The tires are old, but undamaged. The door locks are a little stiff, and the heater vents don't appear to work. It's not a perfect, ready to go show car, but it's an excellent candidate for restoration as it hasn't been hacked up or modified. Spare wheel, jack, some service books, and spare parts and take-offs are included with the sale. The tail and fender indicator lenses are aftermarket replacements, but the original Hella lenses are included. They show their age, but are otherwise intact. Price is negotiable, but I'm not giving it away. I'm only selling it because I don't have the ambition to restore it myself, but I don't want to see it go to waste either.

To clarify a couple of points regarding sale:
- If you are interested in the car, please respond with questions, contact info, or something. Simply "I'm interested" will be ignored.

- I'm not making any shipping arrangements, dealing with intermediaries or putting anything in the mail. I'll deal with the buyer only, and if any shipping, storage or transportation is required it will be at their expense. You are expected to leave with the car, spare parts and title at time of sale. Sale is final and car as-is. I'm not implying or offering any kind of warranty whatsoever.

- I won't accept any form of payment other than cash. This is non-negotiable. Don't offer me PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, nor any kind of check, wire transfer or trades for property. Cash only. Period.
