Classic Car Overview
What can you say about this Silver Shadow finished in stunning Peacock Blue with a cream leather interior and elegant wedgewood blue carpets and cream leather binding. The car is finished off with coordinating cream fine-lines to the waist-rail and hubcap beauty rings all done entirely by hand in the artisan tradition. The presentation and colour combination of this fine example is simply breath-takingly beautiful.
This example was from Virginia and spent most of the last 30 years in the care of a collector. It is completely dry, clean and tidy throughout.
This car was only recently lightly restored by the Park-Ward Motors Museum. When we received the car, she presented clean, straight and accident free, without rust and scale and all very tidy. The car was repainted probably some 20 odd years ago and is/was a quality job, presenting entirely consistent, deep in luster and a solid shine all-over. There are minor little marks here and there but nothing of a notable nature and only really mentioned out of clear disclosure. All she needs is a regular polish and wax going forward and she will remain glamorous for years to come.
As part of our reconditioning process we removed much of the bright-work and machined buffed each piece to a very high shine including all the hubcaps. This was followed by hand polishing and meticulous cleaning prior to re-fitment. It looks like new. Inside door edges and jams were already clean and tidy but we also refinished the stainless sills to a very high shine.
The fine lines on the car were applied in the same manner as Rolls-Royce did so to all their cars for many years; a trained craftsmen with a good eye and steady hands. With only the best squirrel hair brush, the striping is applied entirely free-hand in one elegant stroke at a time.
The interior of the car presents beautifully, and shows in wonderful condition. The light butter colour leather contrasted with the wedgewood blue carpets is a delicious touch and all presents beautifully. The front seat cushions were refinished at some point prior to us and there is some gentle patina in the leather but it all presents well.
The burl walnut wood finishes on the dash appear to have been done a while ago and are very nice. We refinished the door cappings as they were displaying the typical hairline cracking in the clear. We carefully way up originality vs restoration and in this case we felt the door cappings let the interior down. So now, they are like brand new with a clear that is so deep it presents like glass. The wood is the Milanese burl walnut finish option with pale ash cross-banding and displays a lovely grain throughout. The wood is simply superb and we are delighted with our decision to refinish them.
The head-liner is in top condition as are the original wedgewood blue Wilton wool carpets, delightfully finished with seat matching leather binding. We think the interior would suit a beautiful set of lambswool mouton rugs in the same blue so if you agree, please do enquire as these can be provided at additional cost. The interior combination in contrast with the Peacock exterior is something quite spectacular indeed and looks very rich in both shade and sunlight.
The working radio is not original but the factory unit remains in its correct position. The boot carpet is not original to the car but displays very well and is in good shape.
Mechanically, the car is subject to the 45 year service and restoration experience of the Park-Ward Motor Museums private workshop and trained RR mechanics and craftsmen. Like every other car delivered by Park-Ward, it comes with everything in excellent working and operating condition, fully inspected and serviced. We call this process; Predelivery Commissioning to ensure all
