Initially distributed by Porsche Audi in Jacksonville, Florida, and delivered to Taurus Porsche Audi of Atlanta, Georgia, where it was sold to the first owner, Mr. Mullin, on January 29, 1973. Three owners from new, finished in Grand Prix White over Black upholstery with the matching 2.4L MFI engine. Very well specified by the Porsche factory; options include a 5-speed transmission, genuine leather seats, Koni shock absorbers, a Blaupunkt Frankfurt AM/FM radio, and factory air conditioning. The 1973 911S Targa was the top-of-the-line model and the final production year of the early long-hood 911s, and it was the most modern to drive.

European Collectibles acquired this 911S in February 2024. It was a remarkably original survivor that had been under single-family ownership for over 30 years. It was a preservation candidate, and serious consideration was given to preserving the 911S rather than restoring it. Ultimately, after being presented at our 18th Annual Open House, it captured the attention of a local Porsche enthusiast who commissioned a comprehensive bare-metal, no-expense-spared restoration.

Inspired by the opportunity to match his 2023 911 Targa 4S, the owner had European Collectibles perform a full, ground-up concours restoration. The 911S was completely disassembled, the body was stripped to bare metal, metal-finished, sealed, primed, and painted in Grand Prix White with Glasurit German paint. Prior to the paintwork, all panels, including the decklids, doors, and bumpers, were pre-fit to ensure precise alignment and panel fit. All the chrome was replated, and the original glass was retained. During reassembly, new components were installed, and others were restored. The interior was reupholstered with high-quality German leather and Haargarn carpeting, and a new Porsche dash was installed. The Targa top was restored with the correct German materials, the steering wheel was wrapped in leather, the deluxe horn ring was restored, and the VDO instrumentation was rebuilt, resulting in a stunning interior with rare factory air conditioning. The undercarriage and suspension components were stripped to bare metal and refinished to factory specifications. The suspension and braking system were rebuilt, and the fuel system was overhauled. The Fuchs flat 6 alloy wheels were restored to factory finish, mounted with Pirelli Cinturato CN36 185/70 VR 15 tires. Johnsons Alignment performed a four-corner balance and alignment in April of 2025.

Mechanically, powered by a matching 2.4-liter flat-six engine (Type 911/52) with mechanical fuel injection (MFI), producing 190 hp at 6,500 rpm, 158 foot-pounds torque @ 4,000 rpm, paired to a manual 5-speed transmission (Type 915) and a four-wheel disc braking system. European Collectibles removed the engine and transmission and performed a top-end rebuild, including replacement of the piston rings and exhaust valve guides, a valve job, and powder-coating all the engine tin and cadmium-plating of the hardware throughout. This 911S Targa runs phenomenally and is in excellent overall condition, ready to show or enjoy at any event with no disappointment. Accompanied by its original window sticker, original purchase contract, spare wheel, tool kit, jack, two keys, and 47 years of documented service history. This 1973 911 S Targa is well-documented, sorted, and in excellent running and driving condition, finished in a stunning color combination. One of only 925 - 911S Targas produced for 1973, the final year of the early long-hood, and restored to concours condition with the matching engine.
