Classic Car Overview

All vehicle trades considered including classics and performance. We can assist with financing and shipping as needed.

The Mopar A-body has to be one of the best classic car deals on the market. This 1973 Plymouth Duster demonstrates that fact by combining great muscle car looks with a platform that is fun to drive and simple to maintain. With a 360ci engine and Torqueflite automatic transmission, this one remains all Mopar yet is much more affordable than its bigger brothers.

Built on May 2 of 1973, this example has been refinished in its original color of JF8 Dark Green Metallic which shows some localized wear but is in good overall condition. It was refitted with a functional twin scoop hood finished in black and has an aggressive rake for a period muscle car look. Note the original green hood is included too. This Duster rolls on 15 Ridler 10-spoke wheels with asymmetric tires of 195/60 in front and 255/60 in back. The underside is solid throughout and has been fitted with subframe connectors for additional strength. The original fender tag is also present.

Back in 1973 this Plymouth left the factory with a 225ci straight six under the hood. While that is a thrifty and reliable engine, it was replaced in favor of a rebuilt 360ci V8 with a 53006921 block. Performance parts include a larger camshaft, Edelbrock intake, Holley 4-barrel carburetor, and MSD ignition. The dual exhaust uses long tube headers and Flowmaster mufflers for a great sound. Behind the engine sits a Torqueflite 727 automatic transmission followed by an 8-1/4 rear end with CalTracs traction bars. You will also find manual front disc brakes and power steering with a new steering box.

The interior looks like that of a sleeper. The front and rear bench seats are finished in green vinyl and look very nice as do the door panels, carpet, and headliner. The dashboard is also in great condition with a woodgrain insert and all the basic original features. Aftermarket equipment includes a 3-spoke steering wheel, column mounted tachometer, and a trio of underdash gauges. The original 2-watt AM radio is just for looks, having been supplanted by the underdash Custom Autosound radio and updated stereo speakers. The headlights, dash lights, turn signals, wipers, washers, horn, heater/defroster, and parking brake are all functional. In addition, a set of bucket seats are included along with a few other spare parts.

Whether you are looking for an entry-level classic or just adding to your collection, this Duster has a lot to offer. And when it comes to the Mopar lineup, not only is the A-body (Duster, Dart, etc.) more nimble than the larger B-body (Charger, Road Runner, etc.), but its size makes it easier to get in your garage. As does the price.
