Classic Car Overview
This MGBGT is here on consignment from retiree who simply is up in age and can't enjoy his car anymore. Hence, we have been hired to find a suitable buyer.
The seller bought the car from his car-enthusiast buddy in Bow, Washington back in May of 2010. His buddy is the original owner who purchased the car brand new from the British Leyland dealer in Seattle, Washington on March 3rd, 1973.
The original owner kept the car for 36 years because of sentimental reasons. Beginning in 2008 he wanted to 'put new life' into the car by rebuilding the engine, having the transmission rebuilt, new clutch, freshened up the interior, and repainted the car.
The odometer reading at the time of the refurbishment was 99,807 miles.
After the refurbishment the original owner drove the car up to the odometer reading 102,391. Then he sold the car to his buddy - our current seller ~ the second owner of the car.
Our seller drove the car a total of 2,369 miles since he purchased it in 2010. He retired and moved to Sarasota, Florida in 2015. The MGBGT was shipped here to Sarasota in 2015. The seller drove the car in the cooler months here, and participated in some cars shows and cars-n-coffee events.
As the seller says "I can't get in and out of the little car anymore...I just need to find a good new owner for her"
The car arrived here May 10th and we called our old- timer mechanic to go through the car in preparation for the sale. He is 83 years old and worked for British Leyland when this car was new. He only works for an hour or two a day, maybe 2 days a week.
Anyway, the Leyland mechanic gave the car a full tune up. Also, he replaced the fuel pump, rebuilt both carbs, installed a new radiator, put two new LED headlights in, and a new battery. Now the car is road tested and ready to sell.
Overview of my opinions:
- drives great - tuned very well.
- good smooth acceleration
-starts right up with the first turn of the key
-transmission shifts smooth
-excellent clutch
-solid suspension - nice feel to the ride.
-the brakes are excellent - spot on
-no pulling to either side when the brakes are applied
-tires have lots of tread
-steering does not have any excessive slop or play at all
-no strange odors in the interior ~ not a smoked-in car, no weird old British-car smells
-the underbelly is clean - please see the photos
-no cancerous rust anywhere
The seller is asking for $19,500, Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or for a free shipping quote!
