Classic Car Overview

1973 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible with the 351 Cleveland. ** Posting Updated April 18, 2019.  I have 30 days left before I must move out of state. I can not take the car with me, so I am lowering the price now to $9000 to make sure she goes to a good home.  If you want a great deal on a car that runs fantastic and looks really good going down the road (my opinion), now is the time. Feel free to call me at 661) 558-7263. Craig.

**Posting updated March 19, 2019 with new photos. In addition, I posted this ad a few weeks ago and received several calls. In those calls I explained that the car had been in storage for the last year. As a result, last weekend I hired a mechanic to come out and together we pulled the distributor and rotated the oil pump so the car would not start dry. Of course, she fired right up and continues to purr like a kitten and drove great. I took it out of the garage and sprayed it with water to get the dust off, and took new photos. I forgot how beautiful she is. I will attach a video of the car starting to the photos section soon. I will be happy to text it to you in the mean time. **The original ad language from 2 weeks ago is what follows:  The 73 cougar convert is the last and largest of the cougar convert’s. This car was previously owned by a newspaper baron in Washington State. The story goes that it was his mother's car and sat in the garage more than ever use. Mileage reads 04404 so one wonders, however with cylinder strength of 118-130 PSI it can't be too far off.  Since I wanted this specific make and model, and due to the XR7's limited availability, I had it shipped to CA and had been restoring for several years. Always garaged. All numbers match throughout. The XR7 model gives the more complex dashboard and power everything. So much has been done on this car to ensure it is solid and reliable. Custom upholstery, dash, carpet and floor insulation all completed by an artisan in Corona, CA. All brakes, fuel, hoses and other lines replaced. The undercarriage, wheel wells and engine compartment have all been scrubbed cleaned, neutralized and re-sealed black. Convertible top in good condition with new boot to match. The engine, tyranny, brakes, cooling, AC, fuel system, and other engine components were pulled and each part cleaned, painted and/or replaced with new a part, gasket or rubber. Nice thing about the cougar is that its baby brother (ford mustang) have so many interchangeable parts, that there is a ton of parts availability. Original baby blue color in good condition, but a refresh is the one thing that would really make it show well if that is what want (however the new photos look great). Have all the original XR7 parts, hubcaps, engine vents, chrome, etc. You just don’t see this heavy steel chrome anymore. Not selling for profit, as I’m looking for her to go to someone that will appreciate what she can do for your attitude. $10,000 is the number, and there is nothing out there close to her for that number. Cash and carry. Of course a clean title and I have all the paperwork and photos pre and post restore.
