Classic Car Overview

For Sale: Classic 1973 Land Rover Series III 88 U.S. Spec Petrol | Soft Top | Vintage 4x4 Icon

UPDATES: Undercarriage pics added, removable rollbar pics, updated body imperfections, upgrades)

Up for sale is a beautiful 1973 Land Rover Series III 88" Petrol (Gasoline) an iconic British 4x4 off-roader and U.S.-market left-hand drive model, finished in classic Sand Beige with a matching khaki canvas soft top and full-size hood-mounted spare tire. This short-wheelbase Land Rover features its original gas-powered inline-four engine, manual transmission, selectable 4WD with high/low range, and classic steel wheels wrapped in General Grabber tires. The minimalist, utilitarian bodywork is aluminum rust-resistant and timeless with a clean, rugged stance and classic Series III look. Great for collectors, overland conversion enthusiasts, or anyone wanting a head-turning vintage SUV with true go-anywhere capability. Clean title. Runs strong and gets attention everywhere it goes.

NOTE: She is at her best with the top and frame off (she has a removable roll bar - see pics).

Purchased from Jaguar Land Rover of Peoria in 2013 (Single owner previously).

Repairs and additions include "Rover Drive" gearing (5th gear), new seals, tubing, seats, canvas top, replacement parts, and general yearly maintenance.

Steady upgrade work with a single mechanic (European Auto Chicago) with the engine, carb, drive shaft, and brakes, among other things, over the last 10+ years.

The transfer case was rebuilt with HHH Heritage in WI. They named her "Khaki." Visit their Instagram page to see her featured; they do amazing restomod work with Land Rovers.

Car/ fluids maintained yearly. She runs very well and starts with a single turn. Just ran her 7/27/25.

I am selling as I live downtown in the city, and she needs the open air to roam free.
