Classic Car Overview

This beautiful 1973 Ford F-100 Ranger two-tone classic is as original as can be for a potential every day driver.   Well cared for and maintained incredibly well this classic eye catcher is always getting plenty of attention for how it can look so good with no repaint or restoration.

I was told that this truck spent most its life in Texas running the fence line for an old rancher.  From the original dealer placard to the lack of any real rust, the facts seem to match that story.  It made its way to my home state of Minnesota by way of inheritance.  I have owned it now for 5 years and it is ready to move on so we have room in the garage for a new project.

The original red and white combination is a clean compliment to its long lines with gorgeous chrome trim from end to end.  The classic chrome grill announces your arrival and the chrome rear bumper is a reminder that while she may be retired now, she once was a hard working farm truck.  The bright chrome rain guards over the windows are a statement that this truck is comfortable in the city as well as the farm and the factory wheel covers are the punctuation marks to a great trim package.  The bed is original as well.  I have debated several time about adding a rhino liner but honestly I am a fan of the story in every superficial scrape.  I can imagine the rolls of barbed wire, fence posts, shovels and bars that were tossed in there every day on the farm.  None of the rust is beyond superficial and the structure is near perfect.  I just couldn’t cover the story up.

The interior continues the classic original conversation.  Other than the after market, operating 8 track tape player everything is factory and in good condition for the time period.  The red bench and door covers set off against the bright white paint of the dash and doors.  Not perfect but it is hard to take out the original equipment and replace it with after market while it is in such good shape.  This beauty is as easy to drive as she is to look at.  Power steering and automatic transmission makes for a stress free modern feeling drive. This unit came with factory heat and air conditioning and while it will need some work to get that working again it is a nice feature to have.  As a Texas ranchers truck, the only rust to really speak of is visible on the driver door window ledge where the owner would rest his arm as he worked the fence line.  Sweat did a number on the factory paint and left it bare and exposed.  Again the rust is superficial and not structural and here again I have not had the heart to take away from the trucks history.

Under the hood is the powerful and fault free Ford 302 V8 engine with 87,510 actual miles.  At around 85,000 miles the following was completed: Full engine gasket set, replace exhaust manifold gasket, replaced radiator, replaced radiator hose, transmission vacuum modulator and master seal kit, rebuild heads, replace pitman shaft seals, replaced alternator and battery.  At 86,500 replaced tires with Firestone Destination A/T, replaced inner and outer tie rod ends, replaced all four shocks, alignment was completed, repack front wheel bearings.  Receipts as proof available for your review.  Like I said, she is ready to go as an everyday driver if you want.

You will be hard pressed to find a more original truck in better shape both mechanically and aesthetically for such a low price.  This truck is ready to enjoy right now, not a project truck to take up space indoor garage.  Drive it to work or drive it to the swap and turn heads a plenty!  Reach out today and I will kick in the assortment of 8 track tapes I have for it including the coveted CCR tape.
