Classic Car Overview
This 1973 Datsun 240Z is more than just a classic car; it's an exclusive piece of automotive history. Delivered new in November of 1973, this vehicle held a place of honor in an automotive showroom in California for three decades, serving as a testament to its timeless design and enduring appeal. Now finished in 903 Blue, it was treated to a thorough refurbishment and presents in excellent overall condition. The 240Zs fastback design, drawing heavily on many far more expensive sports cars from the era with its long sloping hood line and raked-back windshield, has always been a head-turner. The car is fitted with Konig Rewind Wheels - Silver, and Toyo R888R Tires. Always stored indoors and having spent its entire life in California, this car has been meticulously preserved, free from rust, and maintaining its original charm and integrity. This is not just a car, but a symbol of automotive excellence that has been admired and appreciated by countless enthusiasts over the years.
The interior of the 240Z has been completely redone with new vinyl upholstery, carpets, and restored seats. The original dashboard has been restored and is met with the original restored large, wood-rimmed steering wheel, that frames a new tachometer and speedometer with a 7,000 rpm redline, right in your line of sight. A new clock, oil pressure/temp gauge, and fuel gauge have been installed. The car also features a Bluetooth stereo system with 4 Focal ICU 165 speakers.
The real centerpiece of the 240Z is the 2.4 liter L24 inline 6 sitting under the hood. The number-matching original engine has been rebuilt with .20 over pistons, cylinder boring & honing, crank balancing, block honing, new crank bearings, new gaskets/seals, and a new timing chain. The car is equipped with a pair of restored & polished SU round top carbs and a new distributor - Pertronix. The car also features a new oil pump, MSA 3-2 headers, sport exhaust, and a new clutch, pressure plate, and bearings. The 4-speed transmission has been rebuilt and a new gear lever with a wood knob has been installed.
The car has been stripped to bare metal, minor bodywork has been completed, and it has been painted in 903 Blue. The car was put on a rotisserie, cleaned, and undercoated with 3M. The car also features new weatherstripping, new front/rear chrome bumper, powder-coated front grill, doorsill plates, hood hinges, air intake in original color, new headlights, indicator lights front/rear, new horns, new OEM emblems all, and a new windshield.
The car has a new Mishimoto radiator + fan, new thermostat, and all car tubing has been replaced. The car also features a custom coilover adjustable suspension - Ground Control, new shocks/struts, new calipers front, new drum brakes rear, new brake lines, new brake booster and master cylinder, and a new clutch master cylinder.
This is a stunning example that will show you exactly how these cars blew away their competition all of those years ago. With only 69 miles added since the rebuild, this car is ready for a new owner to enjoy its exceptional performance and classic style. Its history as a showpiece and its life in the sunny, dry climate of California only add to its allure, making it a truly unique find for any classic car enthusiast.
