It's hard to imagine that the Pontiac GTO might never have made it into production. Had it not been for a small group of managers at Pontiac who were also car enthusiasts and visionaries, the GTO might not have been.

Classic Car Overview

I am selling my 1972 Pontiac GTO that I purchased this vehicle from Mecum Auctions several years ago. I am relocating from the west coast to the east coast and do not want to move the vehicle. The odometer currently reads 45501, true mileage unknown. The car is in fantastic shape and is in its original paint scheme from the factory. It was resprayed some time ago, but I could not say when or by whom. This car has no rust that I am aware of, and the paint is glossy and in great condition. The serial number on the block does not match the VIN, but the block is a 400 Pontiac WK with the correct heads installed, so I believe it to be a factory replacement from 1972. It does have a weeping rear seal, so it will occasionally (maybe once every two to three weeks) deposit a single drop of oil on the ground. The transmission is a Muncie M20 and is original to the car. I just replaced the clutch and flywheel with a McLeod dual disk clutch and flywheel less than 1000 miles ago, so it still needs to complete the break in period suggested by McLeod. The exhaust was straight pipe when I purchased the car, so it was upgrade to a Flowmaster H Pipe system from the exhaust manifolds back. I also added a Retrosound stereo with 6-inch front speakers on the kick panels and Kenwood 6x9 speakers in the rear deck. I added the rear speakers below the brand-new package tray, so they are hidden from view. The 8 Track player is original to the car and still works, although only the front in-dash speaker is still connected, but one could easily reconnect a rear speaker as the wire is still there. The interior is in fantastic shape, showing no signs of wear or any tears. The wheels are Foose Nitrous Sec in 17 inch all the way around, with BF Goodrich G-Force Sport tires. The previous owner dropped the suspension with Hotchkis Suspension, front and rear sway bars, springs, and Bilstein shocks at all four corners. I hate to see this car go, but I will buy something when I get to my new home, just dont tell my wife I said that. This car is currently located in Southern California. Make me an offer I cannot refuse.
