Classic Car Overview

Another beautiful Basil Classic... this 1972 MG MGB with only 2,644 miles has been handpicked and meets Joe Basils standards of excellence and tradition of fine automobiles since 1951. This vehicle is truly one of a kind and one of the cleanest, best-maintained, showroom-condition MGBs you will find! Buy with confidence!! This 1972 MG MGB represents one of the most classic and well-loved examples of the British sports car formula-simple, agile, stylish, and engaging to drive. By the early 1970s, the MGB had already proven itself as a global favorite among enthusiasts who valued pure, mechanical driving enjoyment without unnecessary complexity. This 1972 MGB finished in red retained the clean, timeless roadster shape that made the model famous. Its long hood, short rear deck, and low-slung stance came together in a design that was both elegant and sporty. Chrome bumpers, wire wheels, and a traditional British roadster grille gave it a charming, unmistakably European personality. This model year is especially appreciated because it was one of the last with the full chrome trim before federal regulations ushered in heavier rubber bumpers. Inside, this car offers a straightforward, driver-focused cockpit finished in black. Supportive bucket seats, a slim three-spoke steering wheel, and a simple array of Smiths gauges created an intimate and purposeful atmosphere. It delivered the tactile feel that British roadsters were known for-close to the road, with minimal barriers between driver and machine. Under the hood sits the dependable 1.8-liter inline-four, producing modest horsepower but offering lively performance thanks to the MGBs light weight. The engines torquey character, paired with the crisp 4-speed manual transmission, makes the car fun to drive at everyday speeds. The handling is one of its biggest strengths-responsive, balanced, and communicative, ideal for winding roads and sunny weekend drives. The 1972 model year also benefited from ongoing refinements in reliability, build quality, and creature comforts without losing the simplicity that defined the MGBs charm. This car came from a local gentleman who owned it for a couple of years. Restored about 15 years ago with little miles on it, this is definitely one of the funnest cars we are selling.
